Storing Old Photos
Ask a Question
How do you store your old photographs? I am talking about printed ones. I have boxes of them in my loft. Is their a way you can store them digitally and if so does it take up much of your storage ?
All mine are digital a local shop transfered old ones to hard drive 1tb hatd drive have loads of room gor more
If you haven't got a scanner, you might find that taking a photo of them, with a webcam, digital camera or mobile phone is sufficient. It is much better IMO if it's done in good daylight. The storage space isn't too great, and you can either store on a card or disc. You can of course store online - I prefer not to.
Atm most of them are still in albums on the bookshelf, but I do want to transfer them to a digital format at some point so I can share them more easily
I have my pictures stored on my back up drive. I have sorted them out by year so I can keep track. I had a lot of pictures on my devices throughout the years that I transferred but also took pictures of the printed photos I owned as well. I use a 2tb back up drive and still have plenty of room. I usually transfer my pictures via my laptop by using a USB lead to connect my phone to my laptop and another USB lead to connect the back up drive to my laptop. That way I can access my files and I select the pictures I want to transfer from my phone to the back up drive
If you want to store any photos just create an Instagram and put it private. This way you can write a small description for every photograph about that time, whom you were with and when it was taken.
If Instagram ever goes bust (which I don't think it will), just put your profile public for a bit and go to one of those websites to download all the photos.
