Storm Eowyn. How Are You Being Affected?

Ask a Question

I hope everyone is staying safe and listening to the warnings. Sounds like it is going to pretty bad today. I am in the south and already we have strong wind and rain. But this nothing compared to up North.

So far we aren't too bad either, a few flying trampolines on the local news but so far no trees. I hope everyone else isn't too bad either.

I think we are getting off lightly here in South East, just more windy than usual.

Not too bad here for now, we have some strong winds but I've seen worse, I've seen Ireland on the news, it's looks terrible there

I'm a P.A in a residential care home so l will have to be going out in the weather daily no matter what, hopefully it will be blowing me there and then change course and help blow me home. 😊🤞

Around 60mph winds in this part of SW Wales. Sunny though. I think that our greenhouse has survived so far

Fatabelly Funny you should say that, reminds me of the storm of 1987. Everywhere around had been damaged, caravans had gone off cliffs, people were missing roof tops and we lost the swing door of the cat flap!

It hasn't been too bad with us, think it is due to hit us later. My sons school was closed early today, we were one of the few councils in Scotland that actually opened their schools today. My mother in law has had some tiles come off her roof. My friends fence has been blown over. Winds are due to be 75mph here this afternoon

Windy, dry and sunny. But it isn't a cold wind so it does feel quite pleasant. Feels more like an early spring day rather than the middle of winter.

RegularComper91 That sounds good for you. No wind, it’s dry now but it is chilly. Will be making spag Bol tonight then going out for my evening walk, wrapped up!

I'm in South Scotland and have to say that I've been disappointed with how calm it's been. The bus services today were cancelled and the local shop was closed. The weather was dry and sunny. I wanted to go out for a walk in a wild rainy storm.

North East - it's been mad here, trees down, cars overturned on motorway, schools closed, trains stopped, even heard our local amazon warehouse was closed. I got hit in the face with the bin lid as it was bin day too 🤣🤣

PinkElephant26 ....I Sheffield we had the snow then ice so no brown bin emptied at the supported living home I work at,last Wednesday it should ha e been black bin emptied, not done so both brown & black bin are full & just stood in front of house!

Wednesday just gone it was blue bin day & we have two so that would have been FOUR bins out,I don't think the Support Worker put the blue bins out as we already had the other bins out!

My brown bin was emptied at home 20 min walk away so don't know why the works bins haven't been emptied!

Sheffield is under a Yellow Weather Warning,we have had gales up to 42 miles per hour so not as bad as some places..

A tree has fallen on a house in Sheffield, I can't read the report as I have to register!

Today my partner drove me to work, all the bins were outside people's homes & loads were on their sides with all the papers everywhere as it's blue bin day in my part of Sheffield so that's the paper bin..

Once at work I had to ring Dr & take service user, we had to get taxis there & back because it wasn't safe to walk,we would normally walk the path through the wood, cross to the park & walk up through the park along road & we are there but it was too dangerous..

It was very windy here (north tyneside) but we were lucky and were unscathed. No damage to our property thankfully. I always worry we'll lose our roof.

Bit of rain but that was it. Getting around was great as a lot of people stayed home so getting to and from work was a walk in the park

How is everybody today? We have had some strange weather with huge hailstones that have covered the roads in some places like thick snow. Lightening that has caused damage to several properties and winds that have lasted all day. The thunder was horrendous too and not like the usual bangs either.

I am holiday at the moment and yesterday just as we arrived the thunder arrived as well. We had hailstones and a lot of rain. Today is much better.
