Most Stupid Thing You've Done?
Other
I have hitchhiked home when I was a teen! I got in the back of a white van. Luckily it ended ok and I'm still here to tell the tale. It's pretty high on my stupid list
Im sure we’ve all done stupid stuff as teenagers that we look back on and thank god we’re still alive... I just wonder how many people are willing to spill the beans
I can’t say I’ve ever hitchiked myself but there’s a whole generation of people who think that’s pretty normal!
It's my opinion that the dangers of hitch-hiking are seriously overplayed. I'm not saying there aren't any dangers but a person walking home is just, if not more, as vulnerable.
Using a taxi is not risk free. (as has been proved on many occasions). https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/dec/28/reports-of-sexual-assaults-by-taxi-drivers-rise-20-in-three-years
"People who want to abuse others will get into positions where they can" (says it all!)
When I was a teenager I hitch-hiked from Philadelphia to New Orleans to Houston to Las Vegas to San Diego to San Francisco to Seattle. It was one of the smartest things I've ever done (Funny, eh!). I saw more of America than most Americans will ever see. Several drivers put me up for the night, one taught me how to win (slowly) at Blackjack and I even got a lift in a police car. I stayed in millionaires' homes, on a yacht, and in the woods at the bottom of a rubbish dump. A fantastic trip and a fascinating way to meet people from all walks of life. After Seattle I went to Canada for the long trip back east.
One of the more stupid things I've done was on the same trip when I jumped from a bridge about 60 feet up into Russian River in California and splash landed on my arse. That hurt!
High up on my most stupid list has to be starting to smoke. I quit smoking years ago now. That was hard.
