Do You Suffer from SAD?
Ask a Question
I know that as it is days are getting shorter, it has an adverse effect on my mood, as anyone bought one of the SAD lights ? If so would you recommend it
Na, it doesn't bother me.
I quite like the days getting shorter to be honest.
Me, my wife and the woofer will just cosy up on the sofa with a duvet and a glass of wine, put some sparkly lights on and watch TV or a film.
I know that it does affect some people and makes them very depressed, which is definitely sad
I'm thinking of getting one, but I'll ask a friend first to see if she's noticed any difference. I'll let you know.
I hate the short daylight, it makes me very fed up but never had the use of a Sad lamp, sorry
I do! To be honest I’m not so bad with the nights drawing in early this time of year, it’s the drab wet days that get me down but beginning of the new year I find really hard after the full on celebrations of the festive period!
(I guess that won’t be the same this year though!!)
Seasonal Anxiety Disorder, a UV lamp is supposed to help as it tricks the brain into thinking it's the Sun
Very close @beccalavender but the middle word is AFFECTIVE - it's more of a depression than an anxiety. This gives more details, https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder-sad/

Moonstone22 Exercise makes a positive difference to me as well, luckily I'm a fitness instructor. I teach online three times a week and run outside three times a week.
I do have a lamp but often leave it too late in the season to use it, I should probably start putting it on in the mornings now. Mine is a cheap one, and basic. Hard to know whether it makes a big difference.
I have always struggled with Winter and Christmas but trying to think differently this year.
My partner suffers with SAD. The light does help some people. But also making the effort to go outside and walk and enjoy what daylight there is. Also mindfulness activities. And exercise.
