Supermarkerts - Food Shortage
Other
Has anyone else noticed in thier areas a lack of food on the shelves in the big 5? I went to 3 shops yesterday all of which I struggled to get half of my shopping list.
Might just be my area
Got everything I needed from my local Iceland store, but when I came to do an online delivery, some of their ice creams were not available.
I'ge noticed this same thing. For last couple of weeks shelves are half empty in both of my local Tesco and Lidl.
No food shortage where I am. There is plenty on the shelves. It might just be in certain areas though.
Imagine if the country went on a food and water shortage. The wise ones are those who already have it on backup or know of a well to get clean water from.
My husband told there were no ice cream in ASDA only 3 and he bought one of those so just 2 left...it was 8pm yesterday
I can understand ice cream being sold out but its more things like bread , chicken & meats , fizzy drinks , cereals and tinned fruits x
I've read a couple of articles about this and no one can give a straight answer as to why this is happening. I know a few weeks ago they said that there was a CO2 shortage which they use for fizzy drinks and packaging meat. Also the weather is causing crops of lettuce to be poor and also broccoli I think. Some supermarkets have had problems with chillers breaking down but it doesn't completely explain why it's such a widespread problem
My local tesco metro has had little on the shelves now for weeks. Every time I go there I can see plenty of bare shelves.
Oh wow this is not good, I shop online so I haven't noticed this. Think we all need to be more savvy with food and maybe use Olio to give away unwanted food. The hot dry weather may have caused this.
I live in the highlands of scotland and yes my supper...market all ways same enmity. And it does not matter what time of day it is These are just a few that are hard to get. Bread, cheese. Egg, milk. And meat. I've now changed supper market now. I go on line. A lot better. Can get all what I want and it's cheaper.
