Supermarket Deliveries - Have you Managed To Get One?
Other
Sorry if this has been done before, I couldn't find anything.
Have you had any since lockdown?
Are you struggling to find slots?
What has the quality and availability been like if you have managed to get an order?
I used to pay annually and get asda deliveries every week but hadn't got round to renewing it at the start of March. I have since managed to get 2 orders from them during lockdown which I have had to book early morning. I've not been happy with the orders themselves, some items are quite battered and a few have had expiry dates of the same day as delivery and not looked very fresh. They're the kind of state that I wouldn't have picked up in person nevermind paying full price for them. There were also several out of stock items which meant we still had to go out to get those things.
I saw there were slots available at asda and didn't bother with it thinking about the quality last time. I don't think I'll be ordering from them again for a long time. My husband goes to aldi on a Saturday morning instead, it's very quiet there these days and everything is fresh and in stock.
I'm interested to see if anyone has been having similar experiences.
I haven't had any trouble finding slots I have 3 separate accounts and been able to get at least 2 tesco a week Iceland and asda. Pretty much everything delivered the odd one or two. I have a asda in next hour due and everything on there apart from pancakes and hand gloves. I think it all depends on the area you live to be honest
Yes, I think it does depend on the store and the area. I have friends close to big cities and they really struggle to find the slots. I think people are far less willing to go into supermarkets in those areas and they'll be busier so I don't blame them.
We have had 2 click and collects and a delivery from Tesco. Not had any problems getting a slot that suits us, got all the items we wanted and all had good dates on them and nothing was damaged. I have never had an Asda delivery before but I do like shopping in store.
I actually never had a problem with Asda orders before and used to get them every week. The quality has gone down hill since lockdown at our local one.
ClaireF1978 strange. I've had ones from Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury but never Asda so don't know what it is like, but I've always enjoyed shopping in store and they have good products so maybe next time we need food I might see if I can get a delivery. Maybe it just depends on the area you are in and how busy they are?
I'm finding that some deliveries have very short sell by dates on their fresh foods - toms were the next day and a bit wrinkled, apples were not crisp and felt sticky/waxy. I'm relieved that there doesn't seem to be a problem with bread. My next slot is in 10 days time.
I only can find click and collect ones...and in different stores around us. Delivery is for people who isolate only...
I have a delivery coming from Tesco on the 13th, but I booked that around 2 weeks ago.
Can't get anything else with Tesco, or Asda and Sainsburys.
We've had a lot more luck with Iceland, but if you don't want frozen food, it's a bit limited. Especially the wine.
I’ve not managed to book deliveries weekly and it’s pot luck when I do get a slot. In fairness I’ve been extremely pleased with what’s arrived especially Tesco. At least with Tesco remember to tick the box for no substitute. I’m just grateful if I can a slot every two weeks.
The first couple of weeks of lockdown I couldn't get a delivery from anywhere, but the last 3 weeks I have gotten Tesco delivery & received all our items.
This is good to know, I will definitely be looking for Tesco slots for next time. I do find Tesco a bit pricey though.
ClaireF1978 I have to admit I did only manage to get those slots because my sister is checking website hourly. (Tesco are releasing slots at random times) & texted me when they available, otherwise I would have missed out. Iv managed to get a C&C for next week today. My sister sets an hourly alarm on her phone to remind her to check, so maybe worth thinking about trying.
I've not tried. They are there for people who cannot visit a supermarket in person ie. the elderly and vulnerable during this time. My Mum has managed to get deliveries from Iceland and Asda though.
I have a health condition that puts me in a vulnerable group but my husband doesn't. We try to isolate as a household but it's not always possible.
ClaireF1978 This is why I think those of us who are reasonably fit and healthy should leave the slots available for people like yourself. Stay well.
I have been lucky recenrly as there were few slots so had last week and this week delivery from Tesco , but don’t think will be doing it again as I untick substitute coz we order most items organic and last time they replaced with cheap items and I didn’t get refund for the price difference so no I don’t want them to replace it and not receiving loads so still need to go to the shop , so won’t be ordering oine again as if going around 9p.m it’s not many people
This is similar to our experience. We order a few specific things for my son's allergies with no substitutions and end up with nothing for him.
I have struggled like crazy. Disabled and broke plus I can't go out either so it is not fun!
Have you got any volunteers in your community who can go and get your shopping for you? There's seems to be a lot of people around offering to do this near me and near where I work.
Looked into it before, the groups don't cover my rural area.
Either way I would rather be able to shop myself online but that is almost impossible.
