Best Surprise You've Had?
Ask a Question
What's the nicest thing someone has ever done for you and you didn't see it coming?
On Thursday I was at my recent new workplace and a lady who works there in a separate rental area (who I've met a few times by passing by) came upto me with a box of chocolates and said this is for you I've seen you working hard and i thought you deserved it.. I was so surprised .. she is a stranger .. we didn't even know each others names but somehow from the sheer kindness of her heart she felt compelled to gift me.
Has anyone ever done something unexpected for you.. big or small..
For me it doesn't happen very often so when it does it really touches my heart
When I was hospitalised for the 2nd time in my pregnancy, my mother in law flew over from Northern Ireland to make sure I was ok. I was totally surprised when I walked out the bathroom to see her sitting next to my bed. The midwives kept saying what a wonderful mother in law I had.
Nadiaparveen it is who she is. She flew over everytime our son had a big hospital appointment, she is like a 2nd mum
My granddaughter lived with me while at uni. I told her to keep the key for emergencies when she left. I went on holiday and on my return I found she had made over her old bedroom. Painted, new bedding, picture on wall, bedside lamp and in my reading area downstairs a lovely tartan throw and Outlander cushion for my recliner chair. I was gobsmacked.
What a lovely story Nadiaparveen! It’s nice to know there are still kind, thoughtful people around.
When I was 19 (many moons ago) I hitchhiked across the USA. I had intended to travel by bus but stuck my thumb out in Trenton, New Jersey and to my surprise a car stopped almost immediately. It was such fun and easier and safer than I thought it would be, and some of the people were fascinating.
So I kept hitching from New Jersey to New Orleans, to Houston, Las Vegas, and San Diego, then up the west coast to San Francisco and Seattle. Over 5,000 miles in total. The hospitality and kindness of the Americans I met amazed me. Some even put me up for the night – many went out of their way to take me exactly where I wanted to go - I even had a lift in a police car.
After Seattle I travelled across Canada, but this time by train and air, the Canadians are lovely too!
Probably when my partner proposed.. it was our 2 year anniversary but he had been in many long relationships (7 years!) where he hadn’t ever proposed so I didn’t think he ever would..
