Make it so they can only eat them one day at the weekend. Everything in moderation is ok

Ask others not to give your children sweets without your permission. As a child Friday was father's payday and he bought sweets for us kids and a box of chocs for mum. I carried this on with my kids as it was movie night with old fashioned vhs videos from blockbuster. Sweets were not an everyday thing and should be an occasional treat.

Swop sweets with fruit... Just do not buy the sugary stuff...

Tell them to choose only one thing... And usually they pick something healthy over unhealthy

Mine were only allowed sweets Wednesday and at the weekend. but my sons teeth were still in bad shape so I literally cut out all juice except with meals Desserts and sweet in the week. They can only have a restricited amount over the weekend. They have their own sweet stash... basically gifts from others and they get to choose what when I say so.

I got my son an electric toothbrush and it’s made a massive difference.
