What are some techniques that department stores or big shops use to attract more customers?
Sales with big signs in the shop's window! As well as affordable prices. Trendy clothing on the mannequins, friendly and helpful staff.
Definitely, not customer service, which seems to have gone downhill lately. Maybe staff are fed up after all their hard slog during lockdown, which must have been very stressful
Offers at checkout. Poundshop is the worst for it. There always pushing you to buy some item at the till.
Pret a Manger have introduced their £20 a month coffee subscription (and the first month is free). Enabling customers to get up to 5 drinks (includes, teas, hot chocolate, etc) everyday. This is a very tempting deal for people that frequently go to coffee shops
Putting promotional items by the front of the store so as you walk in you see the deals, changing the lay out so you have to look around to find what you are looking for, putting upsell lines tills so you may be tempted to buy them while waiting to pay, promotional posters in the windows, bargain stacks around the shop to peak interest. Emails and brochures when new lines are released
