How to Tell 10year Old Santa Isn't Real?
Ask a Question
Hi all,
My daughter told me this morning that she knows santa isn't real. (Found out from her friends) she asked me if it really was me and her dad. I chose not to answer her properly as I didn't have the heart to 'ruin the spirit of believing'
I know it needs to be brought up again and she needs to know but have no idea how to tell her.
How did you explain to your kids? Did you use any ideas to keep the spirit going? She has a 7 year old brother too who still believes. I dont want her to ruin it for him too. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
I went through this with my daughter. I didn't explain she just figured it out in her own time
If you do talk to her try and get her to agree not to tell her brother keep magic alive for him
Your in real trouble . I'm 45 and I utterly believe in Father Christmas. Please accept my apologies for the bad news.
I suggest the Santa magic continues at least for Christmas 2020 and 2021 and both your children can enjoy it.
Of course Santa is real. Take a look here, and get the children to write their letters. https://www.royalmail.com/christmas/letters-to-santa
These days Santa is really really busy, especially with the toy shops being closed, so sometimes he isn't able to write back to everyone. And sometimes his sacks of letters go walkabout! If that happens a secret elf (aka-you) is drafted in to help Santa out at the last minute, to write and deliver the reply letters just before Christmas.
Watch out though. Somebody told me if you don't believe in Santa he doesn't bring you any more presents once you're 12.
Try asking her this question?
" if Santa is not real who brings ..... presents then".... fit in a name of a person she knows whose parents are not alive. .... I did this with my daughter years ago.... I was a single parent and my parents had both passed on when she was a toddler..... it gave her an extra year or two of christmas magic .... hope thus may help you xx
My daughter asked me and I told her the truth because some of her friends said he wasn't real she was fine with it
