Tesco and Asda ban shoppers without face masks after Sainsbury's & Morrisons clampdown
Tesco said those who shop without a mask from Tuesday, January 12, will be banned at entrances, as the country grapples with the ongoing spread of the new covid strain
Tesco said it will be enforcing new rules on face masks and lone shopping from Tuesday, as the country grapples with the ongoing spread of Covid-19.
A spokesman told The Mirror customers will be banned unless they are medically exempt.
"We won’t let anyone into stores not wearing a face covering, unless they are exempt.
"We are also asking customers to shop alone, unless they’re a carer or with children... we will have additional security to help manage this."
Asda announced similar measures today, after rivals Morrisons and Sainsbury's introduced new bans earlier this week.
Asda said those who refuse to wear a face covering without a valid medical reason will be refused entry.
Good - at last. As long as long as they allow those who are genuinely exempt to continue to shop then I am all for it. They should also make sure people wear masks properly as so many people out there seem to be protecting their chins and leaving their nose / mouth uncovered which kind of misses the whole point!
Well done GreatDealsFind on your very original post.

Good on them although i went to tesco for my shopping this evening and although there were several notices up about it and some extra barriers.. there was noone ob the doors enforcing it anyway we are in a smaller town but still if these plans are in place surely they should be manned at all times
