Tesco Delivery Saver. Should We Get Reimbursed?
Ask a Question
A lot of us are signed up to Tesco delivery saver.
Seeing as we can only seem to place an online order every 3-4 weeks (if at all), should Tesco give us our money back?
In my opinion yes they should for sure. They are not providing the service you paid for so they have broken the terms and conditions. It doesn't matter if circumstances in the world have caused this they have failed to provide the service. Besides supermarkets are profiteering at the moment, because so many are now using online shopping the supermarkets are swamped with orders and so there is very incentive to provide discounts. The supermarkets are one of the few businesses that will do well at the moment along with funeral directors and tv subscription services.
BonzoBanana I agree. I think that I might send them an email/tweet to see what they've got to say.
TheChimp I will do same I been a saver member for over 10 years 2 big shops a week and we can’t get a delivery yeah I understand some slots for elderly but regular customers deserve better treatment my husband is a hgv driver suppling Tesco with their food and we can’t even do a shop
As they're doing alright during this time, I would have no hestitaton in asking for that. Go for it.
I have Tesco delivery saver & hadn't even thought about it, Yes absolutely should be reimbursed, especially as we are not using there delivery service at all right now.
yes....they should.
I think Amazon also should suspend charge for Prime members, because they do not deliver prime things next day and also they moved everything to Fresh so u can not find essentials in Prime anymore.
Oh that's a good point about Amazon. It might be worth contacting them and seeing what they can do. Some of the delivery wait times are crazy long.
AgnesFaludi Smaller retailers are losing enough money so Amazon really should suffer a bit as well. I wonder what Jeff Bezos is doing to help with the COVID-19 efforts. He could build a new hospital with his lose change!
Definitely should. Give them a call to see what they say. I’m sure in this situ they should honour it. If not go to higher powers to complain
They'll could use this:
Our Delivery Saver guarantee
"If you spend more on a plan than you would’ve done on deliveries, we’ll email you an eCoupon with the difference within 21 days of your plan ending"
from https://www.tesco.com/deliverysaver/
In other words "you're not out of pocket if you took out a plan and we can't fulfill what was advertised, due to exceptional circumstances, so what's your problem!"
I'd guess though that as a good will gesture they'll make some allowance - they don't want to lose customers.
I don't pay for this, but I think they should refund you. Other companies have refunded for services affected.
The most likely result is likely to be to extend the time that's been charged for, but I don't think a full refund would be enforcable if a person has already used part of the delivery service they paid for.
davidstockport well yeah, I didn't mean a full refund, just for the affected time. Or as you say, extended subscription period.
MeestairChrees I think all delivery services are struggling - I've been TRYING to get a delivery slot for a home delivery but no luck so far.
davidstockport keep checking apparently best time to check is after midnight when they open new week
Ann1984I was trying Iceland - they only book for six days ahead - the SAT SUN slots became available just a short time ago - I'd been trying all day, then hadn't checked for about twenty minutes and all slots had been taken when I looked. Fortunately my next door neighbour phoned a few hours ago and offered to get some things for me. They're not too young themselves.
It's a bit stupid really they've asked us not to buy more than we need to leave stuff for others - then put a minimum price before we can order online. Then Iceland say they'll only deliver to those who are vulnerable because of age or medical conditions, minimum price is £25 and that's about the lowest to be found. With free delivery for orders over £35. .
davidstockport if you are struggling contact your local councilor ours has been fab to the people isolated or vulnerable and they been leaving cards for people to fill in if need any shopping
Ann1984 There are people much worse off than I am - so I'll let them get any available help first. I'm not even out of milk yet, It's when I get down to the two pint bottle in my freezer (in a few days) that panic will set in
davidstockport In my area there’s plenty of Tesco delivery slot available I hope you will get soon just keep trying to get delivery slot. don’t forget to order a milk for your cat . Edit take care every one will see you all tomorrow
Sanitation1234 I don't have a cat - but there's one that visits my garden that could be in severe danger if food becomes scarce I don't dislike cats, well. . . I don't actually know I haven't knowingly tasted one yet.
Sanitation1234 There are several reasons Tesco are OUT OF THE QUESTION:
They have a £40 minimum spend (There is no way I could use up £40 of goods - and I don't intend making matters worse for others by wasting food or stock piling).
I am not signed up with them (even if I wanted to be). They are only catering for families - not people on their own. (as are most online suppliers).
This picture shows yet another reason.
davidstockport Thanks for your reply I just seen and read your comment you don’t need it sign up with them I mean Tesco .i just can’t explain how bad I am feeling right now I didn’t know they only catering for families as you said . they shouldn’t do that. you are right people are wasting food and stock pilling they don’t even think for others . I am sorry for that because we have so many Tesco in Birmingham when I click for delivery it was available for me I didn’t order anything we have everything only maybe we have to go for milk or bread . yesterday on latest deal site one of our mods they post a deal Uber eat can deliver important things like bread eggs milk . try that one you might get one delivery from your local stores I mean off-licence and corner shop they doing at the moment.I did share that link to my family and friends . I hope everything will be fine soon take care of yourself . if wrote anything wrong please forgive me i am not feeling well today
Sanitation1234 I don't have a local shop - although I have an Aldi (where I usually shop) about a three minute walk away. BUT I am in a category that has been ordered not to leave my home. I actually got a text from UK Government 8 days ago it started: "New rules in force now: You must stay at home". I've mentioned my next door neighbours have offered to get things for me (so my problem isn't too bad). There are many people who are self isolating who are probably much worse off than me. I'm doing my best to help them too. It isn't until someone can organise a simple system which gets reasonably nutritious things to those isolated that things will get better, there are far too many people "talking the talk" and not doing a thing to help those who are worse off and not lifting a finger, other than to help themselves. There are however many who are helping - and I hope I can be included in that number, I would like to thank all those who volunteered to help me help those who might just like someone to chat to by telephone, total isolation can be depressing for some, unfortunately I can't. . . not one single response.
davidstockport milk isn't so bad anymore but I'll tell you what is! Coconut milk! It's the only one I can have due to my allergies. Always out of stock everywhere
SarahGrace1177 i have lactose free, and a few of my grandkids are dairy free& soya free due to allergies. But thing is when people cant get normal cows milk, they buy the alternative stuff,so none left for us who need them.
Caz2 exactly it’s so annoying! I’m also lactose intolerant and I can’t have soya, wheat, starch or gums! Sainsbury’s and Holland and Barrett only sell the milk I need. all the Holland and Barrett stores have closed down here now though
Ann1984 Yes they open up slots that according to when I looked were not available
Im 'not on the list' of priority people with sainsburys or seemingly anywhere else) even though ive several disabling/medical conditions, registered as such on DWP- whom sainsburys are supposed to be working with, so i dont know how youre expected to get these 'vulnerable persons' slots, its easier for them to identify pensioners, due to date of birth- gives a phone number to tell sainsburys but you cant get through,or even speak to anyone,it just goes round in a circle& disconnects.YAY!! IM ON THE PRIORITY LIST!!
Caz2 dang reminds me of pip! Waiting on the phone for 12 hours to then be hung up on. Not me personally but there's lots of news stories about it!
I hope you're luckier than me with Iceland - they should stop splashing "Free Next Day Delivery if you spend over £35" all over the place if they know they can't deliver. I wasted a lot of time selecting what I wanted then found that there were no delivery slots available. They should let you be able to check first.
davidstockport thank u.id forgot to look,as i was busy cooking, washing etc.so am glad i didnt waste my time.sorry you did though
davidstockport yeh thats only problem with iceland.at least you try for slot first with others.
Hi i have not been able to get out so been ordering from Tesco and have tried booking delivery slots but next delivery was a few week away very disappointed will have to get out.
When all this is (hopefully) sorted everyone will remember who was helpful when we needed it (the supermarkets might be coining it in now, but the customers wont stay loyal to the ones who werent helpful..i wont anyway!
My sons been driving nearly 2& a half yrs now& was going to see if they needed extra drivers but would imagine its 25& over,& hes not even 22 till autumn.Hes a good careful driver though.
Received email today started back up
As you know, we suspended Delivery Saver payments in April, which allowed us to support 580,000 vulnerable customers with 1.1 million orders. We couldn’t have done this without your patience and understanding.
We’ve also made other big changes, including introducing a priority 4-week slot view, allowing Delivery Saver customers to see the 4th week of slots before everyone else. This gives you the best chance of securing a slot in advance. Take a look at the latest 4-week slot view.
Lastly, to help as many customers as possible, we increased our delivery and Click+Collect slots from 660,000 before COVID-19 to over 1.3 million per week now.
