What Do You Think about Eating Liver?

Ask a Question

One of my favourite thrifty recipes is liver and onions, which I had for my tea tonight. Liver is quite cheap to buy; I think I paid around £1.40 for a pack of lamb's livers which was enough for me to make two meals, so I put the other half of the pack in the freezer. Do you like it?

I buy chicken liver from Tesco. In a tube frozen for 50p. It's not strong taste I fine other lives to be to strong. But chicken live is lovely. I make a liver and bacon butter stew. It's it's lovely and tasty . With some warm bread. 🤗

Not a fan. It’s not something I would normally buy on its own. If in a pie or mixed in a stew, I’d eat it, but not outright on its own

Liver, bacon and onion gravy served with mashed potato is one of my favs.

Try to get the liver with a long date on it though, as the closer you get to the use by date, the more bitter it will taste.

My partner loves liver! I cook it for him about once a month, but I can’t stand the stuff 🤢

It was something mums to be were encouraged to eat in my day as liver is rich in iron. It was also a normal every day meal which I still enjoy from time to time. My best way is to coat with flour, fry gently until browned along with chopped onion. When onion soft add gravy and simmer then serve with mashed potatoes and veg. Many people fry bacon with the liver too. I prefer lambs liver.

Lynibis The only problem with it being high in iron is that I'm not really allowed to eat it ☹️ And of course, if you're not allowed it, the more you want it.

It's the same with grapefruit. I've been wanting it for ages, but it's a massive no-no for me.

Lynibis It wakes you up in the morning especially if you've had a glass too many wines the night before 😉

I admit that I really love the smell of liver and onion gravy but I've tried it a few times and I just can't stand the texture.

It's a big no from me...the taste and the texture puts me off. Same reason I don't like paté...Eurgh! 🤢

I like to eat liver if it's not like the sole of a shoe lol With some fried onions and it's good to go.
