Do You Think All Weddings Will Be Postponed during Coronavirus Outbreak?

Ask a Question

I’ve just been wondering if other events with over 50 people will be cancelled or postponed during this coronavirus outbreak. I do believe we should all take care not to transmit and not be in large groups or events. I’m sure this impact on lots of forthcoming weddings.

Oh dear, with all that planning I’m sure the whole family must be devastated. Let’s hope when this is over that they can rebook their reception. Maybe the official marriage part can take place without all the guests.

If gatherings are limited to under fifty, this could be very good news for the Liberal Democrat Party - they'll be the only major political party to be able to hold a party conference.☺

Just saw some posts online about people who have made the decision to postpone their weddings until the situation calms down. I don’t blame them. It would be awful if anyone got ill after they attended a celebration

My brothers getting married in June, so far it's still going ahead. He will be devastated if it has to be cancelled. Theres already alot of time, money & planning gone into the day. Will undoubtedly lose money too if its cancelled.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him. I’m sure there are lots of couples who have planned their weddings that will be affected by this dreadful virus.

My friend is getting married in early June and is already looking to cancel all the things they have organised - they also have some older family members expected to attend so it's not purely number of guests at the gathering that is concerning them but the vulnerability of anyone attending.

My son is a chef at a Wedding and Conference venue and says the cancellations have started, some as far ahead as September.

chelseaturpin He'll just have to cook meals and leave them on door-steps for those in the village as most are over 70 and will have to self-isolate - keep him busy

Pjran Employers wont be happy then when they open back up and no staff go back. If you know you have good workers at least pay them minimum wage and their contracted hours whilst business is shut. That's what i would do anyway.

chelseaturpin the staff will be grateful to go back to paid employment. The business can’t afford to pay staff even the minimum wage. It’s tough out there, that’s the polite version of what I’m thinking.

Pjran True, Son las left last job as his hours kept going up but as he was on salary no overtime!!!! He gave up at 73 hours/week, took a 25% paycut and got this job, definite days off and anything over 40 hours is paid, no breakfast shift through to close (5.30 - 23.00). Catering staff are not well paid.

I think it will be out of most people's control as venues make the decision for them.

Or the government enforces no group get togethers for our own safety.

Pjran One detail I disagree with - it's not for "our" safety unless you have a particular health issue. It's to stop us spreading it to people who do have those underlying problems or frailness.
