Three Topics for the Price of One!
Other
So as not to keep starting new topics that disappear as soon as being posted here are three things I would love to discuss:
- Is it worth me getting Facebook for comps only or would there be disadvantages I haven't thought of?
- Isn't it time that governments started being pro active in encouraging a slower population growth?
- Has anyone else watched The Fall and been repelled but at the same time hooked by it?
Take your pick, or comment on all.

- I have read in many sources that if you have a Facebook account explicitly for comping, then companies won't want you as a winner, as for some reason they don't like obvious compers (perhaps this is the reason why I have never won a social media comp?). Also, Facebook is a hotbed for scammers. But of course, this is entirely up to you
- Long overdue, yes. The UK is indeed overpopulated and I do believe that more measures need to be taken as a way to control this.
- I yet to see it. I have no idea what it's about, but going by the title alone it does sound intriguing.

Think I will continue with my ban on facebook, although I did win a Royal Mail comp when I used to be on it but I would hope they are pretty reputable.
I believe it is a worldwide problem and governments should get together to get it sorted. Everyone keeps blathering on about climate change and the environment but no one mentions population which is the single most important thing that we as humans could do. Do we really believe eating less meat or using less energy is really going to help with the population likely to double AGAIN in the next 50 years.
Gillian Anderson is the lead role and it is about a really horrible serial killer, she is not my fave actress and I keep seeing her as Maggie Thatcher, she doesn't smile once, and I am in middle of second of three series! There is a smart *r*e teen whose face I would love to slap and the guy out of Fifty Shades is the lead male role. I sort of want to recommend it for as I said it is compelling viewing, but I know I shouldn't really watch such stuff that makes me uncomfortable.

Lynibis I like serial killer related dramas, so I must get round to watching it at some point soon. Thank you for the synopsis.

I would stay from Facebook I believe it works same way as Instagram as owned by same company you to like post share the post tag a friend. A friend of mine was tagged in a hotel break but after a bit of research it was a scam plus a lot of people now tend to do raffle prizes and some are free some are £2 up to £10

Many people aren't aware of this, but getting entrants to tag friends and share the post as a requirement of entry is actually against Facebook rules. Though you could get them to like the post or answer a question.
As for that scam comp you mention, social media is unfortunately a hotbed for them.

3: watched. Hooked. But it wasn’t the best ending and it was a bit off on tangent by itself. But still can see where it was great. Have you finished it. ?

No i am in middle of series 2, going at a rate of knots! I hate him so much, I hate her so much, I hate the teen so much, in fact there is no one I like except the good looking guy who is always caught eating lol.

3 : I've seen The Fall, but it was the band. I take it that it doesn't count?

I am watching the fall just now, on season two and so many times i think i’m going to stop watching but i just cant i’m hooked i need to know what happens

Same here. And I keep picking fault with it. What little girl (old enough to understand) would not run to daddy after seeing mum dragged into a car in the middle of the night? The killer's kid is good at keeping secrets too. The teen is too worldly wise to be innocent and why didn't they search his house, tell his mrs what he's been up to and wait for him to come and visit kids. They haven't been to his work, checked to see if he was volunteering on the nights he said etc etc. It really winds me up when they take the viewer for an idiot, or make the police look like idiots!

1.) I don't do comps but I suspect most competition winners on social media platforms are chosen due to how many followers the winner has, in order to advertise said product/items on their page.
2.) Yes absolutely.
3.) I watched it yonks ago. I enjoyed it but remember very little of it.

- I'm not a fan of social media in general, but I too have considered joining to enter competitions. But I think it would be a waste of time. There are so many scams and fake comps on there and, as someone above mentioned, they often seem to pick a winner based on how many followers they have, so an account just used for comping probably wouldn't win. I just feel like the time I would spend entering would be wasted time, so I haven't joined.

I use fb to enter comps. I've won loads over the years. I've never heard of companies disliking profiles that are purely for comping or picking winners that have loads of followers as all comp winners are picked at random. If it is based on number of followers or friends then I certainly wouldn't win as haven't got loads. Yes there are scam competitions but it is normally quite easy to figure out that they are scams. Verified company accounts have blue ticks next to them to show they are the real page.
I only have the one child and won't be having more. My reasons have nothing to do with population or the environment, although I know my decision will certainly help with both.
Yes I've seen The Fall. I watched it with my husband, who every so often would go “I've been there", as he grew up just outside Belfast. It was a very grissly show and I had to take a break from it. I did really enjoy it though. Totally agree about wanting to slap the teenager!

- No I would not get a competition only Facebook.
- When I was younger most people had small families now most seem to have big ones. Personally I have 3 although I was told after first one I couldn't have anymore. Yes I think encouraging smaller families good idea.
3.not seen the fall

Brilliant questions.
I am very interested in the answer to the first as I don't have facebook (or any other social media) and from time to time I wonder about whether I should or not too.
Bang on with number 2. The population really needs to be massively slowed down or the planet won't support everyone, let's face it, it is struggling now! Predicted population figures are scary! https://www.economist.com/special-report/2020/03/26/africas-population-will-double-by-2050?gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInMvPzOb37gIVhtKyCh1X8AGIEAAYASAAEgLYsPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Can't help with number 3 as I haven't seen it. Sorry.

I finished The Fall last night and I didn't feel as some others did that the end was a disappointment. I quite felt it was poetic justice as I would have felt an ordinary courtroom end would have been disappointing.
I won't elaborate In case RachHC hasn't yet finished or others are intending to watch.
