So what tier have you been put into? and what effect does that have you? and do you think your tier will change?
I'm up in Newcastle so we were guaranteed a tier 3 and we will probably be in tier 3 until a vaccine has been fully rolled out because we are the expendable north!
It doesn't really effect me that much as I'm not venturing to pubs in the current climate but being in tier 3 is going to do some damage to the hospitality sector and local article reckons 40% of that sector will collapse in Newcastle.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, we're going to be in a lot of a worse position in January after the clown governments have decided to let 3 households to meet up at Xmas. Factor in the returning students, and we're all heading for s*it street.
TheChimp totally agree with you, why don’t they shut the schools as well!
My eldest boy is a bus driver and he has to do some school runs with up to 5 different local schools on one bus. He’s not allowed to tell the kids to put a mask on only advice. He’s putting his life at risk (he had heart surgery 10 years ago) because the company won’t use more buses 
TheChimp I’m not worried about it because nothing changes for me apart from I could visit a non essential shop.
hrdaniels1980 That's tough with him being a front line worker.
I wouldn't want any contact with youngsters (25 years and younger) because they don't give a 
, they think that they're immune or won't get properly ill from it.
What they don't understand is that it could kill their grandparents/great grandparents.
There's a lot of people that will be crying in January.

And while we're talking about it, do you reckon that the hospitality sector should put profit before Covid infections/deaths?
It seems the most selfish thing to do to be honest.
Earning a couple of more pounds does not equate to the spread of Covid and how it effects the families of people who have died from catching the virus through these places.

TheChimp no I think they should be supported by the government like most businesses who have paid taxes
Getsome How about the people who aren't spending money in the "hospitality venues" helping them out? If the government help them out it is money that could have been paid into the coffers by some of the people who couldn't afford to, or wanted to, use them in the first place.
I won't be helping them - I'm still seething about being charged £5.15p for a pint of beer last Christmas. (I remember when that was two weeks wages
).
davidstockport Everyone that has paid taxes should be getting support from the government.
Yes everybody should get help but the hospitality sector (not being essential) should be a long way down the list, and it's a very long list, even those at the top of the list can not expect to be unaffected, the debt accruing is at a rate that will affect future generations.
davidstockport At least you won't need anymore help seeing as you're on ESA and PIP.
Count yourself lucky.

TheChimp Not LUCKY I worked, earned and saved what I have got - I didn't use the money to attempt to pickle my kidneys.
I had no idea about what ESA or PIP were (never had a penny benefits) - but will assume you did. I worked from my 15th birthday and retired on my 65th. I had health problems in my forties but retrained at my own expense, unlike some who just give up and rely on benefits.
20% of schoolkids are or have been off school because of Covid "symptoms" ? - 0.2% of these have subsequently tested positive and obviously none have died or even been seriously ill . They are hard facts .
Understandable perhaps , an overabundance of caution . However I prefer to view the statistics and confirmed facts than believe all the rumours and theories floating around on various websites and sections of the media .
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that missing any more education would be far more detrimental to children (today and in their futures ) than the miniscule risk of being at school .

I'm qualified in statistics and I can tell you that the 0.2% is an absolute pile of balls.
And then you have to factor in the amount of cases that have been caused by the school kids, which is many.
I don't know where your head is at the moment tbh.
TheChimp Nothing to do with stats - stats are only as good as the info put in . Read up on it (not my figures ). 0.2% of school age kids have tested positive .
Yes of course you can prove anything with statistics - but 0.2% isn't a statistic it's an England wide fact . Put your "qualified statistician " hat on that !
Just because "your view " is that schooling is causing the spread of the virus don't ignore the facts that prove it to be a false view.
More facts - the R number has dropped to below 1 for the first time since August , infections have dropped below 20000 a day - and guess what Kids are still going to school .
Think you may have to reassess your deeply flawed view ?
Golfforall The problem is this is that school children aren't tested for covid-19.
What I'm saying is that statistics can be bent in favour of whatever you want the outcome to be.
TheChimp I'm not using statistics I'm using published data , and obviously there is no way to say that that 0.2% caught it at school , a good proportion probably caught it at home from an adult in the house hold .

I am in Tier 3 but still have to go to work everyday to a vehicle dealership! I am disappointed to hear of the 5 day lift - I appreciate people miss their family but surely it’s just going to make things worse and potentially cause further lockdowns?
We going down to tier 2 but wont make any difference to me. I'm only going out if absolutely necessary (I'm going out in morning to buy kids advent calendars because Asda didn't have any left for our online shop but they lost enough this year and going to be less of a Christmas so can't deny them a calendar each)
I was in tier 2 before and will still be in tier 2, but I live less than 5 minutes from where a tier 3 border starts, and the local supermarket etc are in tier 3.

After they release it and people take it, they'll allow people to live their lives normally.
My grandma isn't around anymore so she's got nothing to worry about.
PhilipMarc My grandmothers aren't around anymore, but if they were, I'd be worried.
I just have to worry about my parents who are in their mid-70s and ignore the rules.
They are being very selfish imo and it's going to be me and my sister who have to pick up the pieces if one or both of them dies.

Not surprised Newcastle is in tier 3 I fully expected it. It is what it is. Nothing will change for us. Iv long excepted 2020 is a write off socially.
Of course we were tier 3. That was probably decided the day we went into national lockdown lol.
Getsome Glitterandgold Don't want to alarm but a well known hospital in your city has just extended it's Covid testing programme 
Getsome I meant the general testing of staff etc, pods were due to close end of August then March now June They expect it to go on well into next year.
lilyflower They will be going until summer more than likely. They will be busy in Jan/Feb when Covid returns from its winter break over Christmas.
Getsome They're busy now, have three 'testing pods' running, only went down to one for about a month.
Won’t know what’s happening with wales until tomorrow most probably mass testing in my area. It won’t bother me what they do as long my family healthy and alive. Just waiting now for everyone to start morning they can’t celebrate new year.
I'm in tier 3 and will probably continue to be for a very long time as nobody knows the meaning of social distancing where I come from
Around here it seems to be since you are wearing a mask you don't need to social distance 
Im in tier 2 but its only a matter of time i think, but we all know whats gonna happen after Christmas anyways !
Im tier 2 currently. I just feel confused. I can go to indoor event with 1000 people but I can't go see my nan...
Tier 2 - Basically it's still lockdown for me, but phrased in a slightly different way.
I am done with it. I have seen a handful of people since March. There is only so much a Zoom video call can do.
The cases where I live are super low. Deaths some of the lowest in the country. So let's lock everyone down and screw business and the economy.
This Government has let a lot of people down.

Where I am in Scotland is tier 3 but had been talk about moving to tier 2. They only way it affects me is my normal supermarket is now in tier 2 so will have to use a different supermarket but that's not a big deal and not something I'm complaining about. I go out once a week to do the weekly shop and thats it so won't affect me either way. I certainly won't be surprised when we are put into another lockdown after Christmas.
Tier 2 just following the guidelines and doing what I am told. I am also a carer for my mother so I worry as she is high risk
