Time to Declutter the Home!
Ask a Question
Whilst I'm stuck in the house I've decided to declutter and prepare some unwanted items in bags for charity.
With the shops closed now, does anyone know if there are organisations that will collect if left in bags at the door?
There are loads of charities looking our local food bank has started doing clothes toys books etc worth checking
It's difficult now with the charity shops being closed. I started having a clear out when the first lockdown happened, but with nowhere to take it I didn't really feel like I was making much progress. When the charity shops reopened I donated some stuff, but they told me that they were only allowed to accept a limited amount of donations as they then had to leave them for 48 hours before they could sort through them.
There are companies that can come to collect things like bags of clothing from your door, but I'm not sure if they're open right now- I looked into it earlier in the year, but they only take certain things, and there are a lot of bad reviews for them, so I gave up on that idea too.
Defo check out Foodbank’s as mentioned and women’s aids and maybe homeless hostels or institutes ?
Go on your local fb pages and see if there are any womens aids, homeless charities, animal shelters, food banks, local churches etc that would take them.
Some charities will collect items on certain days if left outside but you have to contact them about it first.
I did a clear out during the first lockdown. I sold a lot of stuff as it was still in excellent condition and others I gave away for free. Anything else went to be recycled.
There used to be collection points at supermarket carparks for Air Ambulance, not sure if they are still accepting donations.
So much I need to get rid of that would give me so much more space. It’s harder in lockdown though
