they had this issue over in France, Spain, Germany and Italy over a month ago, and now people over here are being encouraged to eat more cheese during lockdown to preserve the varieties we have, or cheese makers may have to cease trading
I do love cheese, but with this economic climate, I can’t justify paying such prices for cheese. I might treat myself now and again, but usually this happens at a deli counter at Waitrose opposed to a cheese seller online. I prefer the experience of buying them in person
Do you buy cheeses online?
Only when doing my online shop at Tesco. My son is a cheese fiend! After Dada, cheese was the first proper word he said. Just show him cheese and his eyes light up. I however would not spend loads of money on cheese and not online, atleast in store you can ask to try a bit first before you buy it.
Ah bless! Cheese is very nutritious, so your son knows how to eat well It’s definitely something that is better to try before you buy as there are some not so appetising cheeses out there
Favourite cheese is cheddar and prefer it mature or extra mature. Seems to be one of the few items that hasn't really gone up in price or at least there does seem to be current offers for it.
Very true. I do love the extra mature varieties- anything milder just tastes bland in comparison. Cheese needs punch
not really a fan of the fancier cheeses. I am happy with standard cheddar, and the milder varieties as I think the mature ones are far to pongy for my liking
Our household loves cheese. Let’s hope the producers are prepared to reduce their prices a little to encourage more to try the wonderful variety available.
I hope they do too, as you never know, once you get a taster you may be happy to pay the full price for it. High initial prices just put people of in general
I eat quite a lot of cheese, but I've never really considered buying it online. Other than buying more chilled canned coffee the outbreak hasn't changed my grocery shopping habits
We eat quite a lot of cheese - all kinds. I made a lovely cauliflower (& sprout) cheese just last week. Toasted cheese & onion sandwiches (which I fry) are brilliant and not as hard as those done in a toasted sandwich maker! Love the stuff
Ooo! I do like a bit of cheese. Normally have some extra mature cheddar in the house.
Not too fond of blue cheese though, but I do make a very nice broccoli and Stilton soup.
TheChimp I also make a nice broccoli and stilton soup but it's more stilton than broccoli I love the stuff.
I love white stilton with apricots, or wensleydale with apricots, on a nice Cornish wafer smothered with butter. Not very healthy so only an occasional treat.
I eat a lots of cheese...yes bought some from Sainsbury`s but nothing special just cheddar, mozzarella and feta.
I love cheese. Belton cheese is local to us and I do love the slightly weird cheese flavours that use to feature at our local farmers markets. I love goats cheese with balsamic red onion tart which is one of my favourite recipes.
Sounds delicious! If I had the cheese farmers local to me, I’d be rocking up to visit them all the time - fresh cheese is divine (I always love visiting the delis over in France and Italy, all freshly home grown and ready to sample)
I dont buy cheese online, I dont usually do a food shop online. I do a food shop once a fortnight. I am a cheese addict, cant get enough of it.
