I love cooking and I want to start to introduce it to my 18m old. Any recommendations for stools/ towers for small kitchens so he can reach the kitchen units? I have seen the little helper ones but it really needs to be something foldable or small. Thank you
I'd probably start with just taking high chair over then. When my daughter was 2 we started cooking together she would stand on a chair and I'd hold her and I'd finish off when she got fed up and wanted to play
Imnotcheap I thought of just taking the chair but is if not dangerous? If you have to hold them how do you cook at the same time?
She would sit down until Igot to the part she would do they I could hold her ie. Mixing or breaking up mushrooms GSM
I done this. I took the food etc to the kitchen table and my son sat in his chair. He’s 4 now and he still loves to help chopping stuff up and is amazing at making scones x
My son loves being in the kitchen with me and wants to help with everything. He just stands on one of our kitchen chairs now he is old enough and I make sure it is right next to the worktop. I will cut up the veg and he will put it into the pot for me, he will put food onto trays for me, he gets to butter toast, put fillings in sandwiches, get his grapes, apples and Cucumber out the fridge or I will give him his plastic knife and a piece of veg and he gets to help mummy make food.
I would just take the highchair over, that's what I did to begin with. My son knows he is not allowed near the cooker, he gets down from the chair and pulls it back and sits down. That way he can see what I am doing but not anywhere near the cooker.
You coojld always have him sit in his highchair and take the food over to the kitchen table if you feel that would be safer.
Golfforall Sorry to be cheeky but I reckon if we stuck you in a commercial oven you would take 3 days on a medium setting. Leave the toddlers be and concentrate on the rude one's first. There's humour, then there's you being rude when there's no need for it. Would love to know what happened to you to make you like this!
Maybe the golf ball hit you in the head too many times, that is if you actually play golf.

Golfforall I'm neither having a bad day or miserable lol. It's not showing a lack of a sense of humour rather consideration for the mother of the child who posed a question. If you want to start a topic for your humour then that's upto you but sometimes your humour is a little offensive. There's no harm in humour in these current times we all need some laughter but there's a time and place. If I offended or hurt your feelings in any way that was not my intention.
zai The chance of a golf ball hitting me would be great . If you emerged from your sanctimonious world for a second you would realise that golf courses have been shut for the last 6 weeks .
This was not a mournful post (until you poked your nose in ) and I didn't realise that humour was banned on here (perhaps just in your world ?) .
By the way I love toddlers ............................... Just can't manage a whole one .

My bad... maybe you don't have a back garden. I do believe everyone knows we're in a lockdown.
I did state that humour was good for everyone in these times but when it's not offensive. Anyhow I best get back to my sanctimonious world lol.
It is easy to forget that a lot of folk are suffering mentally and physically due to the lockdown and we have to have to be mindful of each other.
Unfortunately my daughter has a chef for a Mum and has been helping me cook for years. She made her first 3 course meal at 8 completely unaided, sorting out recipes, timings everything. I started off at the kitchen table and when she got big enough she had a stool at the worktop. It's a life skill knowing how to cook and sadly something they no longer teach in school. I still micro-manage her at 19 and it winds her up, you can take the chef out the kitchen, but not the kitchen out the chef!
I would probably start with highchair so at least you have no worries of them being too close the the hobs etc. I do also love the look of the Ette tete ‘stepnsit’ though not folding as such but can be used as a mini table and chair so very handy to have
Thanks everyone, unfortunately I don't have a high chair because the space just a booster. I think I will wait until he is a little bit older and will use a chair.
