The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime
Other
Anyone else watched this big budget prime movie that Amazon paid $200 million for and you can watch for free if you have prime.
I'm not going to give any spoilers but it certainly takes many ideas from other science fiction movies and sort of blends them together. It's an enjoyable film but doesn't make a lot of sense to be honest.
Films its nicked ideas from;
The Thing
Alien
Edge of Tomorrow
Starship Troopers
You can probably come up with a few more.
Acting is good. I did notice Chloe from 24 in it as a very small character you don't see much of.
If you have prime I guess its a no brainer to watch it if you like scifi. Probably best watched after a few beers to dumb yourself down a bit.
I have considered watching this as I love 'The Thing' and 'Alien'. Not the other two though. You may have made me try it out with your comments. Thank you.
They spent a lot. I’ve not watched it yet. Not sure if I will.
I may give it a go.
I prefer a lot of independent films with smaller budgets. As I find these huge budget films being to generic and the over use of cgi. Same old same old.
Yes that is exactly what is going on here, huge budget for effects to impress and hopefully preventing you thinking about the plot holes and script issues. Still enjoyable though for me.
The acting was better than the script deserved really.
BonzoBanana I will give it a try. I will tell if I will like it pretty quick. I have seen it pop up. If it’s no good… I will watch the simpsons
BonzoBanana hadn't heard of it but we love sci fi and are Prime members so that's Sat night sorted! Thanks!
I've just finished watching it and I enjoyed it. It didn't seem that long, (2hrs 20) which is always a good sign that it's watchable. I like Chris Pratt so it was always going to be worth a punt and it had a few 'jumpability' moments.
I started watching it but then lost interest. The ideas behind it were good, but very familiar…can’t say I’ll remember it
Watched it a week or so ago, it's alright and enjoyable enough to watch but not overly memorable
Yes! I enjoyed it and remember thinking, “This is pretty cool you get such a big blockbuster movie with Prime”
Yes I was surprised Amazon paid so much for it and then gave it away as a prime membership perk. I'm only doing a trial at the moment because of prime day and will probably watch it again before my trial ends. I think the studio were desperate for the deal as they would have struggled to recoup their investment when cinemas were closed because of the pandemic.
It cost $160 million to make but was sold to Amazon for $200 million so definitely profitable for the studio. It's now Amazon's property though. God knows when we will see it on terrestrial tv if ever.
Tomorrow War 2 is in the works despite the film feeling like the story was complete.
