Top Tips for Charity Shop Shopping

Ask a Question

Hi everyone, I don’t always like buying everything new, I think we live in quite a wasteful society with 10 minute fashion So what are all your top tips for charity shop shopping? What have your best buys been?

I mostly buy books from charity shops though I have been known to buy the odd bit of glassware and a brand new scarf still with original wrapping and price on. I have a friend who collects 'Old Country Roses' and found a bud vase for £1.50. I told her where I got it but she was thrilled just the same and didn't feel bad as she may have done if I had paid the proper price.

Don’t miss the charity shop furniture outlets - they are great hunting grounds for cheap but good quality pine furniture you can spruce up with a bit of paint to suit your home decor

My granddaughter and i absolutely love having a rumage in the charity shops. We much prefer this than buying new. Its always exciting we never know what we will find but usually find something we love. Its a great place to buy toys at a fraction of the price.

I love charity shops. I got a Fisher price push along for £3 for my Grandaughter. She was just starting to walk and liked holding on to something. It worked out great and for all the time she needed it. It saved quite a few pounds on a new one.

I always, always go to the charity shop sales to get things that are really, really unwanted. The best ones are the final day sales where everything is £1 - a lot of the leftover items are tat, but theres always something decent hidden under all that tat

I look for baby items. The clothes are so much cheaper and you can pick up lots of toys and books for a fantastic price. Our local charity shops are amazing, my mother in law insists on going to them when she is visiting.
