How often are people shopping?

I don't know about anybody else but we've managed an entire week without topping up our weekly shop and it's going to end up being 10 days by the time we buy any more food in. That is not from bulk buying at all but eating less and having more appreciation for the food we have.
Yes,same,I do plan meals ahead and stick to it,no chance of wasting food.
I like to keep to a budget,I do a main shop&add bits throughout the month,that's why I was shocked when people just started emptying supermarkets,it's a daily ritual where I live ,queuing up at the supermarket 
I'm exactly the same time scale - although I might NOT shop on Monday (not supposed to leave house), the only thing I am likely to need is milk, I have always tried to have enough food in "to survive" for three weeks,
What's your situation if you don't mind me asking ie. why can't you leave the house and is somebody shopping for you instead?
Perhaps it’s time bring back the milkman and milk float
It would cut visits to the stores
A job for the army perhaps - start with milk and expand if it becomes necessary
No need for new floats, just take the doors off some minis.
Johnny I suppose knowing that house arrest was imminent I should have bought a cow, I've heard nothing yet of how a person who doesn't have people local (my neighbours are elderly too) supposed to survive for 12 weeks. I suppose it could become the next weight loss fad, but I don't need to lose weight.
Been a week for us now too, Our fridge has stopped working this week, not ideal! However we still have a fair amount in freezer & cupboards that can easily see us another week, will likely have to pop out over weekend to get some milk, bread etc. OH will just pop to corner shop for them tho.
We've not even been to the cornershop. I'm quite enjoying the challenge of it. Bad timing with the fridge there!
My fridge stopped working a few weeks ago too, sometimes if you just leave them for a while after they've totally thawed out then plugged in again, they start working again after a few hours (mine did) it's always advisable to check the fuse too, many good electrical items are given up for dead just because of a blown fuse. (the fuse in the plug usually). I'll try to help if you need any more info. I was once wondering why mine wouldn't restart after I'd totally defrosted it, then realised the switch on the socket was in the off position
davidstockport We tried unplugging it David, it worked again for a couple hours after plugging back in before stopping again. It is a fridge/freezer combi but the freezer part is still working perfectly 
. My in laws have another combi in storage that we can have so its not too much of an issue, just got to figure out how to get it here. Annoyingly the bearings on our washer are also going, so we are having all the luck right now

We havent been out for a week still got plenty here but having a delivery tomorrow to top up fresh bits.

nina090976 it’s actually wrong. You can’t sign up as vulnerable or disabled only those extremely vulnerable. Lots of us having issues with Sainsbury’s lying About this on twitter telling people to sign up who cant.
check twitter and thousands messaging complaining. They were allowing signups over the phone but you couldn’t get through, now they are just using the list as Waitrose will too (not that they deliver here) so disabled and vulnerable are left out. Disability rights have written to the government about it as it is crazy.
So shocked at this,I honestly thought the vulnerable included disabled and elderly,this needs to change
Most supermarkets offer deliveries for vulnerable people,I think you have to register,on the gov site,Sainsbury's is one of the supermarkets x

The Welsh government is an absolute disgrace and is struggling to cope tbh. They just don't know what they're doing.

We haven't been shopping for 10 days. We often get snowed in during the winter so we always have enough food in our house to last 2/3 weeks. I will only be going to our local corner shop when we run out of something and we need it for lunch/dinner.
Same as you. Didn't bulk buy. I've been meal planning well and we lasted 2 weeks. My husband tried Tesco last night and was pleasantly suprised : theshelves were quite well stocked. They let 10 people in a the time. We should last over 10 days with what he bought (2 bags) and what's in the freezer. I'm happy with the fresh fruit, i had run out.
I try to shop once a week, but since there is limit on things middle of pandemic, need to shop sometimes 2x a week.
Dose being over 70 helps with your shopping myself and my partner have been trying to get home shopping from all the top shops and still no joy when they ask are you over 70 it doesn't matter if you are or not if they have a space then you just have to wait lucky for us we have a small co/op cross the toad from us so 9/10 we csn get bread milk and tea
We will probably need to go to the shops today to get our weekly shop if possible, but I highly doubt we will be able to get the things we normally do on our weekly shop, especially pasta, rice and toilet roll. We normally get our meat from the butchers also which I presume will be closed.
We went to Tesco yesterday , not the easiest of shops, queuing outside for half an hour and then once in the store loads of products out of stock, more than a few weeks ago when everyone was panic buying.
Went shopping last week and we've still got plenty, should last two weeks I think. We're being sensible and sometimes just because we haven't got what we want doesn't mean we haven't got what we need.
My aim is to do a shop every week. I had a habit of shopping 4/5 times a week to top up things that run out. I’ve now realised I can actually do this once a week and spend less time shopping and more time at home. Although we do get through a lot of milk. We have a corner shop in our street. If necessary we’ll top up our milk there. I think this situation has made us stop and think about our unnecessary habits!!
