Torn Ligaments in Ankle
Ask a Question
I have recently torn ligaments in my ankle. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to get back to normal lift ! driving, training etc....
Have you got an ankle support,it will definately help with the recovery.Drinking lots of water will also aid the healing.
I hurt my foot a few years back and it took several weeks before I had full movement again,I did swimming&yoga too just to help with gaining some movement/flexibility back.
There's some gentle exercises/massages you can do,plenty on youtube.Keeping hydrated helped such a lot, hope you feel better soon x
Thank you, its been over a week now xx just started to hobble about but it is so painful xx will have a try
Even a slight ligament tear will probably take 4-6 weeks.
I hope that you haven't done a proper job on it or it will take longer
Haven't done my ankle but I did my knee falling out of the bath last year. It hurt like hell. It was a good couple weeks before the pain eased off considerably & I started to get some movement back. For a few months after my knee felt very weak & would often buckle/give out. I would have a look of youtube for some strengthening exercises. Its important to keep doing light exercises without over doing it. I wish you a speedy recovery!
I am going through the exact same thing but with my left hand at the moment. It's all strapped up. I wish it would get better quicker I still feel zinging pain all the time
The damage is definitely long term - I tore my ligaments 10 years ago and still struggle with it now.. once they are torn, they are much weaker so it’s likely to happen again.. definitely get an ankle support!
Thanks Sarah x think I will ! never had pain like this...its been 10 days and its still black and blue, cant walk on it xx fed up ! ha
ShellyWilliams I feel your pain! Hope it feels better soon, make sure you’re taking ibuprofen if you can coz that will help the swelling x
