Tourists Charged £900 for Two Packs of Sweets in London Candy Store
Ask a Question
Talk about rip off Britain , only this time it was some tourists left with a 'sour' taste in their mouths after being overcharged for two packs of sweets
Not only was this confectionary and gift store on Oxford street selling fake sweets, they charged some tourists £900 for two packs
After reporting it to the police they took them back to the shop to get a refund , later in the week it was raided and many counterfeit goods were found
But the workers escaped through a hidden panel that led to the street
There are many more of these American pop up candy stores selling sweets containing banned substances and items like fake vapes etc putting the public in danger
Lets hope more of these not so sweet stores are shut down

Sometimes it is so very hard to believe what humans will do to other humans. I keep having to remind myself that the world is no worse than it has ever been, we just have it brought to our attention more through news and social media.

KateGriff169 imagine looking at your bank account and seeing you've been charged £900 for 2 bags of sweets

KateGriff169 That's the problem K , tourists sometimes don't check until they get home to their own country

I went in one of these shops once and did a sharp turn around. Many are obviously are a cover up for something else.Much like the 565,862 barbers shops we now have dotted all around the place.

MelissaLee1 You are spot on there M

MelissaLee1 Exactly, and it worries me when it hits the fan and they can't hide it anymore.

PhilipMarc Turkish barbers with scythes could be quite intimidating .I wouldn't argue with one that's for sure. Be more than a short back and sides if hackles were raised.

Doesn't suprise me at all, my wife was overcharged recently on dog food , they said it was an error, over £100 is Not an error

I've seen reports of fake American sweet shops online. It's not OK to do this really. Out of order.

I'm of the opinion that if anyone has that much money and doesn't question the exorbitancy of being charged £900 for that purchase then quite frankly they deserve to be ripped off. On another tangent it's not really cricket to be robbing folk that way.

I'm so tired of seeing all these candy stores and souvenir stores, and the thing is, they're usually next to each other so what kind of competitive business is that? It isn't. Something weird going on there than selling candy or souvenirs...
Reminds me of the barber shops that was brought up before on YouTube.

Most will get shut down now the authorities are onto them. But they will start another venture soon enough, I’m sure

Classic holiday scam that goes on everywhere, be careful to check your bank regularly and also know what you’re paying

Really?!! £900 for some sweets ?!!! That’s really so hard believe and I can’t believe those tourists fell for it?!! Who in their right mind would stupidly buy for that huge expensive price?

Well there is no way that I would pay £900 for sweets, I would tell them exactly where to stick them
