Traffic
Ask a Question
Like most people, I cannot stand the traffic, and I have to sit in hours of it every day to get to and from work.
What main road do you have by you that is prone for traffic?
For me it is the M42!! Absolute nightmare of a road!
I have quite a long commute for work too and it's awful when the weather is like this. I went passed 3 accidents today and at a complete standstill right now!
Yes it seems to get a lot worse with the bad weather, the accidents seem to happen everywhere on the big roads! Last week there was a 10 mile queue of traffic on the M42! Pain!!
Ah that is lucky, dual carriageways tend to have less traffic but I suppose would be bad if there was an accident!
I used to drive down the edinburgh city bypass every day for work. If you didn't leave by a certain time you would be stuck in even worse traffic and be late! I only did it for 10 months as was a temporary contract but it was long enough.
Ah gosh what a pain! I know what you mean, sometimes the difference of leaving 10 minutes later is the difference of arriving to work 30 minutes late because of the traffic!
AliceBell64468 I loved the job, I'm a teacher, but the drive was a pain. If you went when it was quiet it would only take 30 minutes, some days it could take 3 times that! I had to phone in a few times as there were accidents, floods etc that meant you weren't going anywhere fast. I was once 2 hours late because of an accident. When the beast from the east came they were actually surprised when I showed up to work and insisted I left early. The next day I was snowed in and literally couldn't leave my house, luckily the school was closed so didn't need to worry.
MrsCraig Are you, fair play for putting up with children or teenagers as a teacher!! It is good that the school were understanding and allowed you to leave early but I guess they have a duty of care for you. When we had a lot of snow in 2017 I stupidly drove into work 25 miles and get sent straight home, so had a wasted 50 mile round trip in dangerous conditions, I ended up abandoning my car half way up the road as I couldn’t get up the hill in the snow! x
AliceBell64468 I teach secondary and most days are a joy... I had a class last period but the head of the department came in and said she would take them and told me to leave, luckily they were a good class and doing a test. I've had days were I couldn't get up our hill either. Yeah it's not worth going in when you have to drive in dangerous conditions.
Definitely the M4 is our biggest problem! It's nightmare all year round but summer especially and Christmas are absolute nightmares.
