Have You Tried the Vegan Sausage Roll Yet?

Other

I haven't and I might not bother, but I have heard people have enjoyed it

I wouldn't call it a sausage roll though - vegan roll would have been a good description on its own

**UPDATE** I nearly bought one today, as there were 2 left instore. However, I chose the steak and Stilton roll instead - yummy!

You are right, vegan roll or vegan pastry would have been better as some vegans may not even look twice seeing the word sausage.

I agree. The word sausage is synonymous with pork, so it’s perhsps better to choose a different word for it

You should try the organic sausage rolls. They are very sumptuous!

Lol from Greggs? I have tried organic sausage rolls in other places, and you certainly pay the price for it, but they do indeed taste much better 👍

I haven't. I wouldn't mind trying it but not going to go out my way for it.

I think I’ve read in the paper that they’re rolling them out in more stores as it’s been a huge success in the few stores they’ve sold them in

are we still discussing SAUSAGES?

Lol yes, although some are better than others. Tried the foot long ones previously and I have to say it’s definitely quality over quantity!

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning to buy one the next time I'm near a Greggs. I don't have an issue with them referring to it as a sausage, as it just relates to the shape. There are many different types of sausages and veggie & vegan varieties have been available for years.

That’s true - the sausage shape definitely is commonly used for all food varieties, not limited to meat products

I don’t eat sausages so certainly wouldn’t enjoy a vegan substitute. Don’t like the texture of sausages.

Tbh you won’t feel the texture of the sausage in the roll, as they usually use some kind of sausage meat purée opposed to actual sausage to fill the roll

taste is important than texture?

Flavour is most important, I think. Even if the texture is good, if it don’t taste right, I won’t eat it again!

I still haven't tried it yet. I went to Greggs yesterday, but the Vegan Sausage Rolls had sold out.

I managed to try one for the first time today and I was actually quite impressed, although I’m not likely to buy it again, as I like my meat and the steak and Stilton roll is quite nice 😋

A couple weeks back my mum *finally* found one, it's actually decent quite well seasoned too. I'd buy again as it tastes good and is a health(y/ier) option.
