Do You Trust Google Maps

Ask a Question

I have never been able to read a map, in cities I have used Google Maps' for directions. But I don't think I would use it to navigate up a mountain as I would be worried about losing the signal.

I definitely wouldn't now a after reading this article Google Maps Ben Nevis route 'potentially fatal'. One took people off a cliff another through a Rocky path less terrain

A very sensible approach, as looking at the maps there isn't much detail 🙂

I don’t fully trust it, but it’s a useful tool and I’ve found it useful for many occasions. It’s better at giving me transport info than tfl is

Google Maps is a useful tool, but if someone is planning to scale a mountain for the first time they should be doing some research before they set out. Especially if they want to deviate from the main trails. The Ben Nevis is well trodden. There are well established routes.

I use Google maps to direct us when we’re driving to places we’re not familiar with. But no I wouldn’t use it going up a mountain!

It’s worth downloading the app “what 3 words” as it can give emergency services your exact location really easily.

The amount of times Google maps has saved my butt I am so thankful to this app. I've been lost so many times 🤣

Glad I am not the only one who is geography challenge. Love them for the city, but wouldn't trust them in the Middle of nowhere as I don't trust myself to recognises the right rock 😀
