Should Our Union Jack Flag Be Protected ?

Ask a Question

I have just read that pupils at Pimlico Academy in London successfully campaigned to have the Union Jack removed from the school's grounds

Who are these people that do not seem to care about the country and what the flag represents ?

Where has the Great gone from Great Britain ? Image

There are lots of places where displaying a Union flag is appropriate, government buildings, royal residences, military sites, during international sporting events, etc. However, I don't see why a school needs to raise any type of flag. You can be proud of where you come from without having to make overt displays. Flag waving nationalism is often a sign of jingoism or other unsavoury traits. There was a lot more going on in that school than just the flag.

Its just very strange that in other european countries they fly their flags with pride, pride to be living in the country they reside in and pride of their history, there may be one or two exceptions but i have travelled a lot and have many european friends and some tend to fly their flags at their homes as well as other institutions such as schools

The USA is also a prime example of being patriotic everywhere including all schools

Its almost as if great britain is being made ashamed to show our flag, which to me is a total disrespect to the queen and people who made our country and was once truly great britain
