Unseen BBC Costs

Other

I just wondered whether anyone else thinks about the BBC as I do - a complete waste of money.

Over the years we have all paid the BBC to produce programs and they have since sold these programs off to other stations where we now have to pay again, by subscription, to see these old 'gems'.

Another thing that occured to me over Christmas was the TOTP repeats. These days they are completely edited so that we rarely see the presenters - I wonder why! - we are obviously baring the brunt of paying a whole bunch of people to go through all these episodes to delete all those who were accused/imprisoned because of various unspeakable deeds. Again wasting licence fee payers money.

It would seem that the BBC can get away with anything these days - unless the report that I read after Boris Johnson was elected PM is correct in saying that he may make not paying your licence a non-criminal offence!

Completely agree. I favour itv over bbc any day yet I have to pay. And you’ve just opened my eyes to yet another complete truth, they’ve distributed to other channels that we pay for via subscription. Theyre a corrupt bunch!

Couldn't agree more. They should be abolished if for no other reason than they harboured so many sh*t people in the past and were happy to do defend them. They also find it hard to make a decent program these days.

Another thing I've just recalled is how many presenters they have on certain programs, particularly sporting ones. The recent snooker championships had virtually every former snooker player alive commentating as well as their own designated presenters. Don't even get me started on the olympics! 🐞

tumblespots Glastonbury festival is always a major hanger on event for the BBC. They have it multiple channels and radio. Think how many bbc presenters, producers, film crew etc are there. I bet hundreds of staff go there for free. They protected their many rapists/pedos/serial sexual abusers in their ranks for decades. I stopped paying the license at my old house. Now I'm back with family until my house is ready, I'm back in a license paying household and really there isn't much on for the money.

ShellyAnn It really is way past time for them to go, they should earn money by advertising like any other channel. It is absurd that we in the UK pay the BBC so that they can swan around pretending that they are great. They aren't impartial either. Incidentally, we clearly also stump up for the rest of the world to 'enjoy' the BBC. WHY!? I say if they want it, let them pay. 🐞

tumblespots well said! The reason they want us to keep paying is because we pay for the likes of Dan Walker at BBC to spend £200 a day getting to and from work via taxi, even though he has a car he can drive and is on a £250k annual salary 🤦🏼‍♀️ they really are corrupt and I am cancelling my direct debit with them and selecting the option that I do not need a license on the website online. They can’t send anyone round other then a salesman who can try and sell you a license, which you kindly refuse and never allow in the house. Hopefully they will do away with it anyway as I don’t think most are aware of how many corrupt things the money pays for.

AliceBell64468 There are so many 'oiks' on huge salaries, the gravy train lives on and on and on. Oh yes and the nepotism (you reminded me with Dan Snow) that goes on and on too. 🐞

I don't have a tv license and its completely legal. I disconnected my aerial and only watch itv as catchup programs. Most of what I watch is youtube and other videos, dvds, blurays etc. I can listen to the radio etc. As a science fiction fan there is nothing really for me on the BBC. Dr Who is very childish and the recent war of the worlds mini-series I watched at my mother's house nearby was frankly not worth bothering with anyway. They can pay their staff as much as they want and waste millions I really don't care it has nothing to do with me.
