Update: Points and rewards are here!

Big ol’ update time!

We’re still working out the best ways to reward everyone for contributing and helping to make LD an awesome place to find deals. With that in mind, we’re happy to announce the launch of our new rewards & points system!

As you contribute to LD - whether that’s sharing deals, commenting or voting - you’ll start to earn points. And we all know what points mean: prizes! You can see your current point balance in the blue header at the top of the page. If you head over to your dashboard you’ll see your progress towards your next reward.

We’d love you guys to test this out and give us feedback - do you get too many/few points for a certain action? Are there things you do that you’d like to get points for? Are the reward milestones too easy, too hard or Goldilocks just right?

Oh, and we’ve introduced badges too! They’ll run alongside points and after you reach certain milestones (e.g. Shared 10 deals) you’ll earn a badge that’ll appear on your profile. Just to cement how awesome you are. Would be great to hear your thoughts on this too!

We won’t shout about this update anywhere yet as we’d really value your feedback first as to what changes/improvements we should make. Once we’ve got you guys happy then we won’t stop telling people about it

Now, not to overwhelm you with updates but here’s what else we’ve been up to:

• Updated the font we use to one called “Roboto” - let us know if it pleases you muchly, upsets you greatly or if you can’t tell the difference!
• Changed from “Buy From Merchant” to “Get From Merchant”. Better/worse?
• Changed underline colour of headers to grey from LD orange. Small change, what do you think?
• Improved pagination - styling & functionality - we’ve added the ability to jump to the last page on tablets and desktop.
• We’ve made it so clicking on the latest date in chat section takes you to the last page of comments. No more trawling through all the pages.
• This one might be controversial. We’ve removed the overlay/popup when looking at a deal from the main deal list. It now opens as a separate page instead. We’d be keen to get your feedback on this one but some of the advantages of this change are:

- Less complicated code (sometimes it hurts my head )

- Fixes a bunch of bugs in older browsers and on mobiles with the popup and scrolling.

- Helps search engines better understand the website

- Means your “point” balance is always visible on mobile

• Changed the “Submit” button to “Add deal”. Just in case people were confused!
• All of the titles/headers on LD are now of a more uniform shape, colour and size. #OCD
• Made sure you always end up at the top of the page when you click on a post. Sometimes you’d end up scrolled halfway down the page - a little confusing!
• So people don’t get lost hunting down their notifications, unread notifications now also appear in the dropdown menu next to the notifications link
• Fixed a bug that stopped the notification icon appearing in the tab for Desktop users.
• Tidied up some formatting/styling issues with the blog to make it all nice like.
• We’ve made a nice consistent looking progress bar for the Dominos Pizza Voucher Finder and the points in your dashboard.
• Fixed the bug in the Dominos Voucher Finder where progress would report more vouchers checked than existed! (253/23 didn’t make much sense)
• Updated the styling of the blue header on mobiles slightly - we needed a bit more space to squeeze in the point balance.
• Because we have points and rewards now we’ve added some Terms and Conditions to the site. Please have a read and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Thanks as always for being part of LD and sorry for being quiet on the update/technical front for awhile - this was a fairly major update!
