UPDATE: HOW TO UPLOAD AN IMAGE
On the Deal Editor page, and when writing a comment, you will see a camera icon.
Press the camera icon and you will be able to upload an image.
=======
Hey everyone,
If you want to share an image on Latest Deals, either in the deal description or comments, the normal approach is just to copy and paste the image URL. For example,
http://example-picture.com/image123.jpg
This image URL would then convert to a picture when you post the deal or comment.
However, sometimes you can't get the image URL, or it doesn't work, or you want to take a screenshot of something.
Please read my first comment below to learn how to upload an image online (including a screenshot) so you can share it on Latest Deals
To share an image on Latest Deals, it needs to be online somewhere.
A free place to upload images is imgur.com.

Once you have created your free account, you can now upload images (via desktop)
Simply drag and drop images onto the website.
Once the image is uploaded, you can click the image and see a list of URLs:

An image uploaded to imgur, and all the URLs
From here you can copy the Direct Link and paste it into Latest Deals. This is a great way to share your screenshots.
ADVANCED TIPS - REHOSTING IMAGES AND AUTOMATIC UPLOADS
The following advice is more advanced and if you use Latest Deals a lot, will be a big productivity boost (at least until Kelsey makes some changes ) I use this 10-20 times a day.
Use the imgur uploader Google Chrome extension.
Once installed, you can re-host images on imgur.

This is particularly useful for images where when you right-click, it doesn't give you an image URL, or it gives you a funny one that doesn't work properly. I use this very often when trying to find logos (I take from Twitter profiles).
I recommend the following settings for super-productivity:

What this does is when you re-host an image (or capture an area; see below), it will automatically copy the image URL to your clipboard. Right click, rehost image, paste. No new windows, no faffing about.
Take a Screenshot online, automatically upload and copy URL

Using the Chrome Extension, when you right click on a webpage (but not on an image) you will see the option to 'Capture Area'.
This turns into a screenshot function. Click it, and then immediately drag a square just as you would to capture a custom screenshot. Windows users should think of the 'Snip It' tool. Mac users should think Cmd + Shift + 4. It's the same thing.
Once you've taken your screenshot, if you have the options enabled as above, it will automatically upload and copy the direct link to your clipboard. You can just paste, as I have been doing for this tutorial (meta!)
I hope this helps you.
Probably most useful for our power users
Ah... this is great! Thanks for explaining. But what if I take pics while I'm instore and can't wait to upload a certain deal because i want everyone to save money.... and cant load pics from my phone in the commentswill there be an option in the future?
I had an account on Imgur but got tired of all the socialness crap (my images who I didn't intend for anyone to vote got downvotes and comments as if I asked) Imgur now has, ultimately I just deleted the account and now upload images anonymously.
postimage.io is great too.
Or just visit Imgur/Postimage and upload the image anonymously. It's a very easy process.
I've been using Postimage a bit more often to host images as they offer to resize pics automatically.
I think sometimes you have time to add deals etc. but don't have extra time to also find images. Unless this is mandatory? Best wishes.
It really helps to add images. Good images attract more people to your deals, which gets them more votes, comments and attention. Helps people see what the deal is fast which means they know how to save money
Tom I completely understand that it helps you/this site for us to add images on top of content. If this were my job, I would no doubt have the time to consider everything you've mentioned but it's not and I don't. I was doing this just to contribute when I have time but it's not for me to also be considering votes...comments...attention...helping people see what the deal is fast (which no doubt they can manage just as easily without an image) and if they want to save money, there is a search function to help after all. I wish you luck with the site.
consumerrelated that's fair enough. We'll keep trying to improve it to make it easier to auto-magically get good pictures
