Do You Use a Tumble Dryer?

I be lost without my tumble not ruined any of our clothes and I have dried wash loads in them if it breaks it needs to be replaced same day running cost not really noticed hid the smart metre

Average is 3kw so if you have it on for an hour at current Scottish Power rates during the day that would be £0.66p per hour and as it is an inductive load it will register a higher amount of leccie if you have a Smart meter - not so smart meters as they would lead you to believe just another con in the long line of big business and government cons!

Rarely higher than 3kw as you average plug is 13amp@240v - notice how the manufacturers obfuscate by calling them energy b+ a+ but dont actually tell you the wattage which is really how you calculate the cost!

Would never have one myself apart from being a fire hazard they fill the air with minute particles that can cause lung infection due to the damp and bacteria that breed on them!

As I keep saying there is no substitute for the good old days and a whirlygig in the back garden to dry naturally!

We don’t have a dryer, but on occasion we’ve had to nip to the launderette to use their dryers to thoroughly dry out padded coats, etc. I think it’s more economical that way, as it’s unnecessary to dry out everything

I have one but only use it for towels, bedding, socks and underwear. I don’t like how it can shrink some clothes

We have one and its great, i dont know we would dry the amount of clothes that are washed without it. We do at least 2 wash and tumble drys every day - perks of a teenager and toddler we do have a rail on the wall above the radiator for the few things that cant be tumble dried though.

I wouldn't be without mine, it is a condenser dryer so doesn't need any vent through wall etc. I use it 2 to 3 times a week, not at all in summer when I hang washing outside. I believe it costs me about 50p per dry so well worth it for me as I couldn't cope with drying clothes indoors during bad weather. It is not good for your home either, causing damp and exacerbating mould.

Don't recollect anything shrinking, can usually get away without ironing and have had them for many years, since early 90s.

We have a condenser dryer too,it's ideal if you need an item of clothing washed&dried at the last minute I mostly hang my washing out to dry,even throughout winter,might take longer to dry but trying to be more eco friendly x

I have a heat pump tumble dryer. They are slightly more expensive than condenser or vented dryers to buy, but are much more energy efficient. I haven’t had a problem with fading. The clothes also come out with hardly any creases - which saves on the ironing. I used to have a a combination washer/dryer, but like you, I found it expensive and slow. The clothes were always very creased also.

I couldn't be without a tumble dryer. I prefer fresh-air drying but our climate is unpredictable. I haven't had any shrinkage problems with the fabrics but it's important to get a unit with multiple heat settings.

I do understand why people get them but I wouldn't get one even if I had the space for one. Would rather just have the heating on and put the clothes on the radiator.

I couldnt live without ours either, it's on most days especially during the colder months.

I would be lost without my dryer, I still use my washing line and radiators but couldn’t do without.

Don't have one unfortunately, but want one. When I get more room at some point, definitely!
