Who Uses Smart Bulbs?
Other
Im in the process of decorating and wanted some brighter bulbs for my living room. My sister was here last night and mentioned upgrading to smart bulbs.
I had a look on Amazon and ended up ordering the Lumiman twin pack for around £20.
Does anyone on here use smart bulbs with Alexa or Google? What are your experiences. Is it something you use daily or did you use them for a while and then revert back to flicking the light switch
I use them, but not for the whole house as that would cost a small fortune.
I really like them, you can set the brightness and even change the colour depending on what bulbs you have.
I feel hard done bu nowadays If I have to actually use a switch to turn on a light.
blacklabrador i have bought the colour changing ones which im sure the kids will love. I just wanted to be able to change the white tone for day/night. Ive only bought the 2 for the living room at the moment. Im sure my son will want one when he sees them though
I use one occasionally. I need to roll a few more out around the house as they can be useful!
I didn't even know they existed lol. Sound great but I am a bit loathe to get Alexa or echo or Google or whatever you need as I have read too much about their capability to spy on households. I have nothing to hide but I don't want to ever be caught up in a fraud/scam, would sooner flick a switch!
Lynibis you can control them from an app on your phone aswell. Their really easy to use. My little girl been loving life changing the colours this evening. I just used my phone to turn them on before i went downstairs because im afraid of the dark
Be aware though they are live all the time and constantly using electricity 24 hours a day so fire hazard and leccie sucker the more you install!
All smart devices need to be on 24 hours a day although they dont use much leccie still something to consider!
Other than that great fun and makes life a little easier!
garygemmell you can turn them off by the switch overnight and then back on in the morning. Although I read that the bulbs do use much power when not in use and wouldnt be more than a few pence per bulb per month. Ive got a smart meter so we will see how it goes.
i brought the ones at home bargains, they are super bright! try them if your wanting bright.
i dont use the alexa stuff, i have fire stick but i dont have other stuff purely because the things i hear about them
dholly39 i bought my son the one from home bargains and its super bright. Thats how i decided i needed new bulbs downstairs I went with smart bulbs and They arrived yesterday and so far so good. You can change from warm white all the way up to daylight white, dim them and change the colours.
I just want a good old light bulb that lights up the room. I don't see the point of all this "smart" stuff.
I thought they had practically phased out the good old light bulbs (can you still get them?) I use the energy saving things, the good old bulbs did warm up the room though and bumped up the electricity bill too.
I'm with you about all this "smart" stuff though, flicking light switches is on some days the only exercise I get..
davidstockport We regularly use the energy saving light bulbs also. But that's as far as it goes. Nothing of the "smart" kind.
I shall be flicking on light switches for at least a very long time yet.
RegularComper90 they are good for being able change the tone of white and the brightness to suit night and day use. I suppose i could buy a dimmer switch but id need a 4 port as my socket has 4 switches. I have sensory issues with lighting aswell so a constant bright light gives me a headache. Plus im lazy
At the moment it is whatever bulbs are in from the previous owners. I'll stick with those and then move to mine bulbs that I've packed and bought over. I don't have smart phone so unless I win one I won't be moving to smart bulbs.
