Using Robots to Replace Human Workers?

In the News

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-52340651

"People usually say they want a human element to their interactions but Covid-19 has changed that," says Martin Ford, a futurist who has written about the ways robots will be integrated into the economy in the coming decades.

I can only imagine how many people are more accepting of the idea for robots to replace jobs that are currently undertaken by humans, such as driving vehicles, or carrying out work in factories, or even performing surgery in hospitals - some people I know were previously dead against using card payments and contactless, but now they acknowledge it’s the ‘safest’ way for them to pay for their essentials

What do you think of this?

Robots are more precise and I think for some stuff we can use them...like robotic farms should be great.

And I would do not mind robot nurses or docs....

I believe so too, particularly for routine procedures, and definitely for conducting tests

I'm all for technological advances, but when more and more sectors replace employees with robots, machines or AI computer programs it's likely an ever increasing number of people will be left behind. At some point technology will make most people irrelevant in the work place.

Yes it’s definitely a concern. I remember having a discussion with a call centre staff member who was obviously following a script that was not relevant to the issue, so I asked them if they’re not able to deal with the issue without the scripts, what value would they have over an automated response? Definitely a ‘computer says no’ scenario
