Using Saucers for Your Cups
Ask a Question
I really can’t remember using one for ages - perhaps I’ve been served tea with a cup and saucer, but I usually use mugs, or I will use a cup without a saucer, so I've less items to clean/put away
do your saucers get much use?
My gran still uses a teacup and saucer i like a big mug, id have to use a plate if i have a cuppa in my nans its gone in 2 mouthfulls
yes it’s definitely an older generation thing, and a lot of work goes into brewing a tea. I believe we are supposed to sip from a cup, but I’ve always guzzled, so definitely need a big mug
hspexy i think its a bit of a fuss to be honest. Brewing tea in a teapot, having a pot of sugar, teaspoons, a little jug of milk and then all making your own tea. Its easier just to make it all in mugs by the kettle
KirsteyJames lol I agree. If we had to go through the whole process of making tea the traditional way, it’ll take forever to get the teas ready for a meeting in the office (but on the plus side, I can perhaps ask for longer tea breaks )
My friend only uses cups and saucers. When I asked why her reply was she takes sugar so needs to put the spoon on the saucer, I felt quite silly because that’s logical.
Lol she just likes the saucer, perhaps just the base to hold her cup, rather than holding from the handle. She probably grew up having tea in that way, so it’s stuck with her
I've literally just bought a nice round cup with saucer from Ikea (their cheapest but classy looking) for just Tassimo pods...feels like a special treat
