Vaccine Queue Calculator

This might give those who are interested some idea of when they will be invited to have the Covid 19 vaccine.https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk#vulnerable
My personal result indicated it would be during the final third of January.
There are between about four and six million ahead of me in the queue.
(I hope they're spacing and wearing masks)
Haven't a clue where I am in the queue. Meanwhile I have become a key worker without even knowing. For 6 months we were locked down and none of us worked and yet we had to in the 4 week 2nd one, and do so now despite the figures being worse than ever. I don't regard our job as necessary, nor does it affect the economy to any real degree, but out of a dozen or so workers only 3 are under 60. Our 'clients', staff, carers and parents do not socially distance nor do they wear masks.
I know I will get an avalanche of **** for this but I believe the vaccine should be given to the wider population first, those who are spreading it like school children, retail, transport, carers etc. Get the economy going first and give people confidence to get outside.
I have to agree and disagree, I think they have prioritised things as best they can, and as there are far fewer whose lives are at risk if they contract it, it makes sense to protect the vulnerable, and work down to those who aren't affected too severely if they contract it.
The faster they can get everyone vaccinated the better, but that's going to take some time. Then they'll probably be starting all over again.
davidstockport and Lynibis Yes .... I agree and disagree .... I can see the arguments on both sides ...you shouldn't get any *** either way ..... in my opinion anyhow.
Lynibis until we know if vaccinated people still spread the virus there's not much point doing children. Plus I don't think they've been tested on children.
The idea of it is for those who want to get a rough idea to check with it. It will be interesting to see how accurate it gets.
UPDATE:
My personal result indicated it would be during the final third of January.
I had my jab today - the 22nd January.
Can't get much more accurate than that
Well done David, I bet that's a relief. I might look up mine as it appears to be quite accurate.
Lynibis The driver who took me for my jab (a volunteer) was saying because of the voluntary job he is doing will be getting his jab in two days. So you might also get yours earlier than calculated.
davidstockport that would be good but we are not listed as keyworkers or essential etc.
I told my boss I wouldn't work for a while and he has been great as he has enough people to cover the reduced work load, no money though so been a bit tight but I am luckier than most.
davidstockport am pleased for you and envious ... I mis-read our estimated dates ... we're April/May so a way to go yet ...I'm hoping it accelerates.
Terrific thanks .... mine is between 11/02/2021 and 21/02/2021..... I had guesstimated a month later than that so we'll see.
I hope you'll report back -interesting to see if other estimations are as accurate as mine was.
That's what I got too, hope it's as accurate as David's as that means I can go back to work!
davidstockport I will do ... I just did it for my dad in Scotland (and he is due his on Sunday) ... the result was for him to have in the next few days! So that is pretty accurate I'd say!
You are obviously in a lower risk group, nevertheless you will start getting some protection when many of those in front of you in the queue have gathered some immunity.
It will be interesting to see how accurate this calculator was, so far it seems to be doing very well. I think the "spot on prediction" for me was the other side of Christmas. Borderjoe's dad's was spot on too. (but much shorter prediction time.
April for me. As I've had covid maybe I'm seen as having some immunity already but I don't think it asked me if I had, maybe I missed it.
I don't think it does mention it, so doesn't take it into account. I suppose there will be many who've had Covid who will not realise they had it. (asymptomatic). They're still not certain that having had it gives much protection against getting it again. My understanding of it is that the vaccinations are not to provide immunity but more to train the immune system to fight it, before it takes hold, if the vaccinated person does contract it, (That might be an over simplification).
davidstockport There's a great youtube channel for information on the spread of covid, statistics and decanting it all into nice understandable bites.
https://www.youtube.com/c/Campbellteaching
I came across when I was looking for information on long covid which I think I have a very low level of. He doesn't really help with that but lots of other covid info.
BonzoBanana Interesting but very long winded, I must point out (what he didn't point out) that although he has a doctorate he is not a doctor of medicine. I'd already guessed that before I checked (or thought he was American) when I saw his spelling of "Hemorrhage" (without an A as second letter) no English doctor of medicine would spell it that way. His hand washing video made me laugh though, he made two glaring errors in it.
davidstockport I know he trained nurses professionally but its not really relevant to that, he is retired and looks at all the world data on covid, sees the patterns and reads the medical papers and makes it into digestible information for the masses. Yes it can be long winded I guess it really depends on how interested you are in the subject matter. It could be anyone I guess doing this even someone without a medical background I think its more about understanding mathematics and statistics and seeing patterns. He predicted it would be a pandemic back in Jan/Feb last year and his youtube channel has been hugely successful.
My in laws had telephone appointment today they have their first vaccine on Thursday calculator said February 11th so I think this is pretty good. This is in wales they 67 with shielding letter
I'm a vunerable but there's no way I'm going to have a vaccine that is only a publicity stunt to ease peoples mental health issuses ,
it won't end the lovkdown , it won't make me immune and I'd only be having it just in case I got the virus which after a year I haven't , actually I might have had it before we knew it was what we fear so much now!!
I suppose what you're trying to say is that this big publicity stunt to ease mental health issues didn't work for you.
I don't particularly care if you have decided you're brighter than all the doctors and scientists - but let those who wonder why you always have to try to express yourself with pictures (few of them having any relevance to what you're trying to say) judge for themselves.
You condradict yourself by saying you haven't had the virus, but then saying you might have. Do you ever read what you wrote?
So, who told you it was a publicity stunt?
Do you have any proof?
Is it something born of your own mental health issues?
Do you think the whole world conspired to do this?
Do you think scientists are paid to sit around, after coming up with (what you are insinuating) a placebo?
Are you frightened of needles?
Do you realise that you will never be free of a lockdown of your own making because even those vaccinated may pass it to you and you may be one of the unlucky ones?
Lynibis a good response .... all valid questions mrgoggll .... don't you think it'd be worth trying to get your head around them and re-assess whether you have the right answer? In all seriousness, I don't see how the news from inside our hospitals, the upheaval for surgeries and other health care establishments, and the appalling loss of lives, jobs and businesses across the world can all be mis-information. Who would gain by all that ... or even be able to engineer it?
mrgoggll I am requesting removal of the above GIF it could cause cause DEATH to some epileptics. If it isn't removed voluntarily perhaps you can also be stopped from posting any more. I have mentioned before that such flashing gifs can cause fatal epileptic seizures. Tom Kelsey Such gifs aren't permitted on other forums or social media.
davidstockport Gosh I agree ...it hurt my eyes! I panicked thinking I had inadvertently posted it!
BORDERJOE He is just a pest but no doubt will soon leave (in that name) it's what most trolls do when they have collected their first Β£5 Amazon voucher- just for disrupting topics and annoying people.
When other members have requested him to stop disrupting their topic with inappropriate comments and gifs it has usually caused him to get worse but hopefully something will be done about it.
davidstockport I'm just going to ignore the daft comments and focus on the good sense, helpful, kindly ones ......
Ok my post got removed for being too similar. So does anyone know how the second phase of the vaccine will be done? What the criteria will be for who gets the vaccine and when?
If you follow davidstockport link it tells you very clearly when you can expect your first and second dose.
Lynibis No it doesn't, It tells you the first phase which includes vulnerable and frontline and when you might get the vaccine but I'm wanting to know what the criteria is for prioritising who gets the vaccines first and so on in the second phase.
When people get their second jab is a little vague - it should be within 12 weeks of the first one, It might though be as short a time as three weeks,
The aim now is to get as many people as possible given some protection (quite high) with the first jab.
The indicator only indicates when the first jab will be given, and although reasonably accurate, to date, is little more than a guide.
davidstockport No I mean how are they working out how people are prioritised outside of frontline staff, over 60's and vulnerable.
Getsome This https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-care-home-and-healthcare-settings-posters/covid-19-vaccination-first-phase-priority-groups updated yesterday (25th Jan) gives the very latest information, which should help answer your question..
Lynibis That's what I'm trying to find out, why yours would be Feb first dose and my first dose is sometime in June. Is it age based or what is the criteria on how people have been selected.
davidstockport It don't unfortunately. Number 10 on the list is what I'm trying to find out "10 Rest of the population (to be determined)"
Getsome it probably says to be determined because when they get further on they may decide to do other sections of society ahead of maybe 30s or 40s..........like school teachers, who, in my opinion are at as much risk as many key workers.
This is my own logic nothing to do with government policy.
Lynibis Yes the link is showing 50+, frontlines and vulnerable. So what about 16 to 50, will it be 40+ then 30+ and so on?
Lynibis The longer you leave people waiting to get vaccinations the more they will be break the rules. Im 36 and due to get the second vaccine at the end of September so by the end of September I will have built up enough resistance but what about 16-36 when will they be getting those Christmas?
