Value for Money- How Do You Check?
Ask a Question
Does anyone, like me, look at weight/volume when purchasing to see if its a good buy? Shopping with my mum and brother drives me nuts as they just look at the BOGOF offer etc when sometimes larger or even smaller multi packs give more bang for your buck. How do you guys do it?
Yeah, I can be the same. I was looking for salt the other day and went into one shop, noted the price mentally. Went to another shop next door (partly because the first shop didn't have something else I wanted) and found a smaller amount of salt, but worked out cheaper for the amount being bought, so I bought there. I'd often check online too. Only saved a few pence though!
haha thank goodness its not just me- yes nut think of those pennies saved multiplied by every shop every year- bet there's a few holiday in it lol
OneeyedRaven for sure. You have to look after the pennies to make your millions (I can dream)!
Every penny counts. I just use my phone and do the maths on the calculator app. Price per gram or ml. I always say those end of aisle offers come in four flavours. 1. a saving. 2. a con 3. a new product 4. an impulse buy. Yes compare shops and prices!! I have certainly bought more smaller packets of stuff in the past as it was cheaper than one big box.
This makes me so happy! and agree with the 4 flavours. i have whipped out my phone calculator whilst shopping much to my brother's mortification!!
OneeyedRaven I do that and explain everything to my kids too. I make sure they know exactly why I am doing it and how they can save money. My eldest now checks with me too Why would you not!!
Yes I have now passed the bug on to my 9 yr old too. Comparing prices. End of isle deals may not always be a bargain. Always good to do your sums. We are becoming more frugal.
Yep! I actually drive myself crazy looking for the best deals, working out price per kilo/ml etc.....sometimes I just wish I could shop like a normal person! I’m the same with everything checking for voucher codes, comparing cashback, seeing if it’s more worthwhile going through Nectar for triple points
