Ask a Question

Yesterday out of nowhere my tinnitus started within minute I was vomiting and I couldn't stand up due to the dizziness and couldn't hear at all this has never happened to me before and I'm not going to lie scared the life out of me I phoned 111 and my gp phoned me back within half an hour and said some meds would be really within the next 10 mins lucky that I had someone here with me the tablets that I was given are for vertigo is this normal for it to happen the way it did?

I have it once and felt really bad. I got someone to get me some medication and stayed in bed until it had past. No idea why it happened.

eyeballkerry I know it's scary hope it doesn't happen again but I have felt right since it has and can't get into the doctors so I'll try again tomorrow

Leannexxx I've had Labyrinthitis which causes vertigo and it is the sh*ts. The first time it happened without warning - got out of bed and fell over with the room doing somersaults. GP came out, said what it was and prescribed meds (antibiotics and seasick tablets). It has reoccurred to varying degrees lasting a day to a week, best thing is to lie down and keep still. Ask GP to check for ear infection.

Leannexxx I didn't/don't have tinnitus but used to get random attacks. I now have suspected Trigeminal neuralgia and awaiting MRI to determine if anything else is going on in/around my head (some will say there's noting there to even look at).

I believe i just had covid. (Picked a bug up off my son & it's going around his office, so presumably so). Im feeling better but It's still effecting my ears almost 2 weeks later. They are blocked & leaking & I'm having bouts of dizziness. Just thought I'd mention it, in case it's a virus

I get like this with ear infections. So maybe need to get your ears checked just in case it's this. Good luck hopefully your feeling better soon.

A few years ago when caring for my husband I got so dizzy that he had to temporarily go into hospital cos I could no longer care for him. I was unable to leave the house for nearly a month. It's called BPPV .The crystals shift in your ear. Beyond any kind of dizzy I have ever previously known. Even lying down the ceiling was turning 360.I hoped never to experience anything like it ever again but I just come back from Bulgaria where I had a mild encounter again. The tablets worked quite quickly thank God but I wasn't prepped this time. Getting old aint for the faint hearted that's for sure.

MelissaLee1 Ive just googled it I hope it's not that it doesn't say it's more common in people over 60 (sorry) I really don't know what it is but it's starting to take over my life in the last 10 days it's happened 4 times and right now I'm having attack of whatever it is

Leannexxx Low it on screen time as well.I don't think that helps and/or you can install a screen brightness override. I couldn't do anything at all .Hardly stand up in fact. Tv,phones and pcs were wholly out of the deal.In fact I couldn't even make it to the lav. My husband's carer helped me wash and dress etc.It was both humiliating and horrendous. When I finally went outdoors about three weeks later I was so unsteady and afraid. Most unlike me. It will pass I assure you but it certainly puts you on your toes. I'm 61 so guess I got it all coming lol.Enjoy the best bits while you can before Mr Starmer locks you in one room with no heating.
