If you had the £ would you want to go into Space ?

Ask a Question

Virgin Space Flights Tickets to Start $450,000

They have sold 600 tickets, even if I had the £ it's not something I would be interested in, what about you ?

Yes, but I'd want to go well beyond the Kármán line (62 miles above sea level). A flight on Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic's space plane has now increased to $450,000+. From what I've read passengers will ascend to 60 miles for a flight lasting around 90 minutes or so. I'd want a lot more time than that. Plus, I'd probably wait a few years for them to work out some of the kinks of commercial operation.

Save yourself some money: Have a few drinks until you are feeling nice and light headed. Boot up Google Earth, then turn out the lights focus on the screen, and zoom in and out a few times. Pretty close to the Virgin Space experience but a lot cheaper and you dont end up paying towards Richard Bransons next trip.

I wouldn't want to go into space myself. There's not much atmosphere up there.

I don't think I would be interested either. I know a lot of people get excited about this kind of thing but it's not something that appeals to me.

I'd rather do a virtual reality type thing without the risk of everything around me exploding and hitting the ground at high speed. Richard Branson's trip to the edge of space seems cheap compared to other seats into space but still a huge amount of money only the very rich can afford but at least it isn't millions. Feels like Richard Branson's vehicle will be safer but we shall see. Obviously there is the issue that his vehicle doesn't go as high as others but from what I saw on the videos it looks high enough to get a great experience.

With so much poverty in the world, how can people live with themselves paying these prices for a 90 minute flight?

Because that is the point of being rich being able to afford such things. Many such people have worked really hard to achieve their wealth but then get to enjoy the wealth they create. Most of us treat ourselves within our own budget we don't live more basic lives and send the rest to the poor of the world.

BonzoBanana there are many people throughout history who work hard and achieve great wealth but don’t forget their origins or their fellow humans! Dolly Parton for example, has used her wealth to educate children by providing millions of free books. ‘The point’ of great wealth and what we do with it is what actually defines us .

I have no interest going into space, prefer to travel around my own country. I don’t think my body would survive the trip!
