Ask a Question
So I'm unsure on all these different vitamins but am looking for something to me I'm currently suffering bad fatigue very pale so I very got some iron tablets and I'm vitamins d deficiency so have vitamins c and then b12 dissolve tablet which is supposed to help boost energy levels does any 1 have any tips please
Speaks to a health professional. That’s the best way. Or you may get the wrong advice or taking the wrong amount of vitamins. Holland and barrett do a free advice you can give them a call. You may be lucky and find a nutritionist on here. That’s my tip. Always Speak to professionals
My gp put me on iron and vitamin d for fatigue but didn't help as I have underlying problem you might too
As Imnotcheap says Best to go to the GP as you might need some bloods taken to check your iron levels and also you could spend a lot on vitamins and just have expensive pee and waisted your money, the other way is to eat balanced diet of vitamin rich foods
Iron tablets can do more ill than good if not needed.I have a thyroid problem and they can do endless damage.Multi vits are good but they work better with minerals in that they aid absorption as well.I always find the best thing for energy is to drink more water. So few of us drink enough.
Vitamin D is great for supercharging the immune system but at the moment with a bit of sun about it shouldn't be necessary but definitely the right vitamin in these covid times. Also zinc is used quickly by the immune system if you are fighting infection so ideal again with covid about.
Definitely speak to the doctor. If you are low in B12 you may need a bit more than over the counter tablets. At best you could be wasting your money, at worst you could be taking something that affects other medication.
I agree with everyone who has already said you should speak to a professional.
But it’s worth reading up on the nutrition of different foods as you easily maximise their benefit by eating certain foods together:
Pairing iron-rich ingredients with foods that are high in vitamin C actually enhances the absorption of iron.
Get some proper medical advice and blood tests Mctash. Once you know what you are deficient in, Holland and Barrett often do a penny sale (on at the moment) where you buy one and get a second for a penny - mix and match.
A vitamin B12 injection may also help to boost your energy levels. Have a chat with your GP.
Ask for a full blood count, that way all your levels will be checked.
Staying hydrated is great advice,I have to make a conscious effort to drink more,I take Vit B complex with vit D3,Maca Root, multivitamin for Ladies sometimes apple cider vinegar(capsule form) or tumeric.I also make a conscious effort to eat healthy with a few treats of course cutting down on sugar atm,as that makes me feel tired too x
I work in a pharmacy.
For vitamin D deficiency, you’ll need the Vitamin D in either 25mg or 75mg. This will help bring levels up but you are recommended a blood test to confirm with the doctors if still deficient.
Iron tablets may help if your iron levels are low, again finding out from a blood test.
B complex will cover all the B vitamins and should help with fatigue.
All vitamins can take at least 3 months to build up and start noticing the difference, it’s not overnight.
Pop into your local boots and speak to the pharmacist, they are always there to help.
Total agree with others, go to your doctor first and get your bloods done, I had fatigue and I was diagnosed with an underactive tyroid. Also you should be able to get all the vitamins you need from your diet.
Eat more iron enriched foods and go out in the sun for some vitamin D. Supplements are great but you can't beat the real thing.
If you still have problems then I suggest seeking medical advice. Good luck!
Your doctor might prescribe iron tablets and vit D supplements and do some blood tests to keep an eye on you. If like me you rarely go to the doctors just ask for a phone appointment.
