Vouchers for Points?
In the News
Not to be controversial and I really appreciate the vouchers but should latest deals be looking to give out high street vouchers instead of amazon? I work in retail so I'm biased.
You may want to add your thoughts to this recent thread. The subject has been discussed often but there's no harm in putting your points forward.
Offering a choice of vouchers has previously been discussed. At the moment with the current situation, I do think it would be great if LD was to offer vouchers for companies which are currently struggling. The high street presently needs customers more than ever. x
RegularComper90 Have you never watched Martin Lewis and his views on Gift Vouchers, it's even more relevant now and was discussed again in his show this week!
Hope all ok with you and yours x
JoTarpley No I haven't. I shall have to make a note of that (my memory isn't great) so that I remember to get round to doing so.
All is good thanks. What about yourself? x
RegularComper90 I'm good too thanks, still need a 48 hour day and 'playing catchup' is my middle name nowadays but have drastically cut down on here now, it seems to take over your life only to regularly lose some of the points you've gained, it all seems a bit stupid really all the time it takes just to earn a few points, I don't know where the time I've gained has gone though, shout if you see it! x
JoTarpley I will keep a lookout for you! xx
This site is certainly addictive. I am beginning to see LD in places where I wouldn't expect. In ALDI for example.
Yes I completely agree, I think there should be an option for instance Love2shop vouchers which are widely accepted in most high street shops. Let’s not be fooled here that once the high street is almost gone and the never ending dominance of Amazon takes over, those so called cheap deals on Amazon won’t be there anymore.
Its similar to what happened to our Milkmen, constantly being undercut by ALL the supermarkets and selling milk nearly at a loss just to entice us into the supermarkets at the expense of smaller retailers. The same is now going on with The Discounters Aldi Lidl (which I would never shop at on principal) where they have a large ticketed item at a vastly underpriced offer to entice you in.
For me it beggars belief, we probably all go out wear our poppy with pride to show thanks for our fallen soldiers over the years, two world wars where we stood fast and defeated the German onslaught over Europe, yet we welcome with open arms two German retailers! Beggars belief!
TheChimp no not really, just the same as they won’t show It ain’t half hot mum, as they cannot even see from there own programmes that it was taking the proverbial out of the British classes of the time. Like a lot of these companies and organisations worried constantly in case they offend. But unfortunately the country we have now become where people seem to feel they must be offended for the sake of being offended, or they feel they must be seen to take offence on behalf of others.
Uniqueone We have the DVD set of It Ain't half hot mum, a great British classic - there are plenty of programs I would like to see again but I fear that 'they' are afraid to show them!
Or supermarkets as we all need food and drink. I mean tea, coffee, juices etc plus the occasional bottle of wine.
Supermarket vouchers would be a very useful alternative! I imagine lots of people would be happy with that
A number of years ago, I was paying into a Christmas savings scheme Farepak. Where you got vouchers to buy gifts on the highstreet. They went bust and I lost a lot of £, finally got 10p for every £ I paid in.
In addition I had vouchers I hadn't used, which included Love2Shop, which were not accepted when I went to use them in store.
I can still remember the embarrassment I felt and how I felt that year, not being able to buy my son the gifts I wanted to.
So, whilst I can see your point of view I think Amazon are the safest bet
I had a similar experience when Peacocks were bought out the first time around by Edinburgh Woollen Mills. For each £1 in gift vouchers I had I got 1p , so my £20 voucher became just 20p ! Lesson learnt there we all give either money or One4All vouchers as they are not one shop specific and agree a figure up front I'm happy with whatever the site has to offer though.
Just be happy with the odd Amazon voucher that comes your way as a nice bonus .
Its a deal sharing site - NOT a voucher earning site ! Although the abundance of "non deals " posted sadly shows a majority of members think it is a voucher earning site.
Yes it maybe a deal sharing site, but lets be truthfully honest here, I’m sure the majority are on here to primarily get the vouchers, just the same as further up the ‘pyramid’ are primarily promoting Amazon deals regardless of ‘likes’ as it benefits them financially.

Tom thanks for the link, all I’m trying to say is that primarily we are all on here from top to bottom to earn, however it’s far too easy for some members to just hit the first page and click like 5 times just to get the points. If you were not to offer any rewards at all how many active members would there be?
"Although the abundance of "non deals""
If it is cheaper than retail then it counts as a deal, but even then it can be subjective. Don't know why people are so up in arms here about what is and what isn't a deal.
PhilipMarc You don't do much shopping do you ? Everything can be bought cheaper than "retail" whatever that means . Chinese "tat" on Amazon marketplace much beloved by LD posters always has a totally made up retail price ( and hence equally unbelievable discounts ) .
Ann1984 I am the same as you, used the Black Friday app first and then LD one. used it daily before I even knew you could earn points. So points or no points I’d still visit everyday to check out the deals.
Vouchers for high street and supermarkets would be a welcomed addition, although I guess the admin involved in offering a variety could be a pain, unless one of those companies who do the admin for this are taken on board
Thank you for your Chat post. Yes, it is on our to-do list to build a system that can offer all sorts of vouchers! At the moment, I personally order each voucher for you one-by-one from Amazon. Hopefully next year
I like the amazon ones if honest give up on high street years ago when you got luxury of shopping from your sofa or on the go. Maybe supermarket ones be useful but with the highstreet dying by the day they be no good
I love this idea. There's a new chat topic posted about new ideas you should totally suggest this on there!
I see your point but it might just be an issue of amazon having a larger variety of products on their sites
ASDA, Tesco, Morrison's, Sainsbury's and the like as vouchers would be a good idea since buying food from Amazon may ideal for many people. I've actually never done it myself either.
