Obviously we’re all here because we love a bargain, but how many of us have the sense to ask ourselves wether it is something that we need/something that will save us money long term?
When I first started following deal websites & pages I would buy so much stuff just because it seemed like a good buy and most of that stuff has never been touched and ended up at car boot sales 
Ive learnt to control myself better now!
I'm usually quite good on focusing on things I actually want and know I'll use at some point.
I found a great deal on this website for the indoor bike. That was something I was planning to buy from a long time. Plus I reached my 5000 points so that was quite a good deal at the end 
Except that I'm not into getting stuff I'll never use... excluding freebies!!! 
Awww that’s great that you’ve found something you were planning to buy, I find I rarely if ever have had that moment on here! But the stuff posted is helpful, I mainly use the deals for others for birthday & Christmas presents. Sometimes it works well but sometimes relatives end up with something completely random they didn’t know they wanted
I was getting all the free things 2 years ago and coupons, all of them, but now I think before i get something, if I can use it or really need it and it is same with the deals.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people I know moan that they don't have enough money but continue to buy on a whim and will happily pay extra in an expensive shop when they can get it cheaper elsewhere, same product. My biggest bug bear are smokers who complain of always being broke. If you are a 20 a day person that is £70 per week, £280 per month and if there are two of you puffing in a household that is almost enough to pay a small mortgage (my own is around £600 per month). I know smokers get very cross at my opinion on this but unfortunately you can't get away from a truth. (I must add that although it is my opinion, I am totally in favour of smokers choosing how to spend their own money, even if it does mean lack of it and ill health).
I fully agree. I also hear about people complaining about being broke, yet they have the latest iPhones. I have also seen people queuing up outside the Job Centre with their flashy iPhones. xx
There is a programme Shop Well for Less on Wednesday evening and I couldn't bear to watch as it made my blood boil. It features families who seem to have no idea of budgeting or money management. A husband who spent 2k on footie shirts in a year, a pre teen boy with a selection of designer brand smellies, 4 pairs of the same shoes etc etc. I have to turn off as I can feel my blood pressure rising. As I said, spend your money how you like, none of my business, but don't go on tv moaning and needing an 'expert' to tell you you don't need to buy £200 t shirts 10 times in a year!
lynnibis me and my partner have a love/hate relationship with that show! We love to hate it its crazy isn’t it how they have no idea about money management?!
So true Hannah and it isn't hard is it? Ever since I earned money and/or ran a home I have totalled bills, food and all other outgoings, deducted from income and divided the remainder into 4. This ensures that each week I have the same amount no matter how near or far payday is. There is no need to be broke by payday except when you go out and blow wads of money as soon as you get paid and do not put some aside.
I do appreciate that some people have a really rough time with lack of money and these are the people who need help and advice.
lynnibis I love the Shop Well for Less programme. I don't think it is always the case that the people on it don't know about money management, I think it is a case of, they are spending without thinking and aren't adding up how much it actually costs, but are estimating instead. If for example they think they are only spending £30 a month on online orders but it is actually £50 then they are overspending because they aren't thinking about the exact amount.
I am usually pretty good at prioritising my needs over wants, as well as with others when it comes to Christmas and birthday presents. But of course, we all deserve to treat ourselves every now and again.

I always ask if it is something that I need and if it isn't then I don't buy it. I don't buy anything I know that I won't use. Even if it is a brilliant deal, if it is something I don't need/won't use then it is a waste of money buying it.
