Washable Rugs - Any Recommendations
Ask a Question
Hello, We are looking to buy a new rug and keep seeing 'washable' ones advertised.
Has anyone got one? Would you recommend? Do they wash well, and in a standard 7kg drum?
Thinking of a runner size (approx 70cmx150/200cm)
Not sure if it is practical, or just a fad for marketing purposes!
Hi. We bought a rug for near the patio door (which get heavy footfall, instead of using our back door). I've put it in the washing machine a few times and it may have shown a few signs of misuse but for the price, it's a perfect colour match and a lot cheaper than paying for one being made from off-cuts of the original carpet. Hope this helps. P.S. It was from Dunhelm (useful info which I nearly forgot to add!).
MrsThrifty thank you. This is exactly where ours is for. We keep saying we will use the back door more, but don't! Will have a nosy on dunelm, always forget about there!
We have a washable one, although more of a mat size than a rug but they did have them in runner size. I've washed it and it came out fine. Ours was just for the dog at the door so wasn't bothered how it looked. I got ours from B&M
There are decent washable ones in poundstrecher had one for a good wile and washed multiple times still as good as new
I pressure wash my large rug in the summer and I hang it on the washing line to dry and it seems to come up okay rather than put it through the washer I also wash the door mats with the pressure washer as they are to big to put in my 8kg washer
tara73ziva I never actually thought of doing this. Bought my hubby a new pressure washer for Christmas too! Guess what will be added to the summer 'to do' list?
My washing machine is only 7kg, so this is my concern!
FG280 just wait for a hot day I lay mine on the driveway and I use the water to rinse it first and when it runs clean I use the soap and a soft brush then I rinse it off and hang over the line all day
tara73ziva I dread the amount of dirt it will show .... but also know it will be strangely satisfying! Do you use laundry powder on it, or something like the spray rug cleaner types things?
tara73ziva Thanks for all this! Looking forward to clean and fresh smelling rugs! And some sunshine
