Washing- Darks/whites

Ask a Question

Does anyone still separate their washing into whites and dark clothes? I do because I want my white clothes to stay white.... sometimes I wash whites in higher temperature too. My hubby bought few tshirts which are white on top and black or royal blue at the bottom... would you wash it with white clothes or dark? I dont want to ruin the whites nor the new tshirt...

Ann1984 I dont really own many pink or red items๐Ÿ˜ sometimes I'll do light colours too like greys and sky blue etc. Are they any good? I will need to buy some. Thank you๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

I always separate whites and darks BlueOrchid. I use Dr Beckmann sachets with the whites to keep them bright. For clothes that are both white and coloured, I wash on 30 degrees and use a colour catcher, as Ann1984 suggested. Theyโ€™re definitely worth trying.

I wash whites, pale and dark colours separately. Whites go in a longer wash and the rest on a 30 degree cycle. Iโ€™ve recently stopped using fabric conditioner, instead I pour a dash of white vinegar In the rinse program. Honestly canโ€™t smell the vinegar and have been convinced by friends itโ€™s better for your fabrics, the machine and the environment.

I would hand wash anything I wasn't sure of, particularly if they are light colours. There's nothing worse than taking out the items to find they have discoloured

ptenn00 I think i might hand wash it this time as you suggested. Then I can see if the dark colour on it leaks at all or not. Oh yes discoloured or shrunk...๐Ÿ˜ฏI shrunk some clothes to by mistake๐Ÿ˜‚

BlueOrchid yes, the dip test is always useful. Sometimes after the first wash, you may find the colour no longer run, but I'd never risk it. I have had a jumper stretch after a wash and that was annoying - could do with it shrinking down a little bit

My daughter has 2 jackets white sleeves and black body so I share your pain I put them in with everything else then end up having to treat with white stuff

Now my daughter has left school I don't have enough whites to do a separate wash si it all goes in together

Imnotcheap if they making white/black clothes they should make it detachable ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚so that it could be washed separately ๐Ÿ˜‚
