Watching Stars - Free and Relaxing!

In the News

Even if you're not not interested in the satellites I posted a topic about, putting something warm on and sitting or even lying down (if you can safely) outside to look at the skies is a free activity that can provide an escape from the lockdown without actually leaving your home. Venus is very bright at the moment. Meteors can be seen too.

Me and the wife have been going out every so often tonight to see if we can see the satellites, but no joy.

She's gone to sleep now, so it's just me, a bottle of Pinot and the dog.

TheChimp Could be worse. Maybe go outside after more Pinot and you'll see all sorts of interesting things that aren't even there. We couldn't see the satellites either. They'll be bloody everywhere eventually because 12,000 are going up. Astronomers aren't happy.

Dennab Maybe I will.

Dog has crashed out now, so he's not keeping me company.

I used to be interested in the stars back in the day and I've tried showing the wife some different constallations over the years, but I don't think she's that interested tbh.

On a better note, I have just treated myself to a Babybel (not that it's got anything to do with the post) 😉

TheChimp I'm getting increasingly close to a bag of Quavers. It's amazing how a bit of alcohol can make crisps so damn exciting.

Dennab Ah, I've already had a bag of ready salted with extra salt.

TheChimp You added salt to ready salted crisps?! I haven't lived.

Dennab It's been since these government guidelines about cutting down the intake of salt.

You have to add salt to most things these days.

Mind you, I put so much on my chips last week that my lips were burning 😐

TheChimp They have destroyed sugar-based products too. Ribena may as well not exist now.

Dennab Don't start me on what Jamie Oliver has done.

The only proper pops that I can get besides Coke are Fentimans or Dalstons, and they cost an absolute fortune.

I used to love a Lucozade until they made it taste like bleach. The makers can't give the stuff away now.

The closest that you can get to Ribena these days is Dalstons blackcurrant, but I think that they've stopped making it now ☹️

TheChimp RIP Turkey Twizzlers too. Damn Jamie Oliver! It's a shame things can't just come with warnings, and some common sense that we shouldn't eat/drink too much of the bad stuff.

MeestairChrees Even tho Turkey Twizzlers were disgustingly bad for us..Iv never quite forgiven Oliver for that one.

Jamie Oliver is not my favourite person, no. We should indeed be trusted to control our own consumption of sugar. I realised my teeth were deteriorating so I cut down on Ribena. When they screwed it up by taking a load of sugar out, I cut down even more, to zero! Fools.

MeestairChrees I never tried a Turkey Twizzler ☹️

I feel that it has left a small void in my life.

TheChimp You seem to be discovering a few missed experiences today. I can't say I ever tried one actually and unsure whether that's a bad thing.

Dennab There's one thing that I have tried and that's a Bernard Matthews Hamwich.

Now that is a taste sensation.

TheChimp Weirdly, Bernard Matthews was the first name that came to mind when turkey twizzlers were mentioned. How's that for triumphant marketing?

Not where I live. Far too much light pollution. I'm lucky if I get to see any stars. However, the moon is always a welcome visitor 🌔

ACR Pity. Venus has been extremely bright though so that should be visible if it's not blocked by cloud.
