Have You Been Watching US Election Coverage?
Ask a Question
I have found myself watching the BBC coverage of the US Election, but I am surprised on the amount of time given over to this as normally other countries elections only get a brief mention in the main news programme.
The election is a huge deal for western democracy! Particularly in relation to Brexit, the outcome of the America election is of great import to the U.K.
I personally cannot believe how close the outcome appears to be after the last four Trump years
PhilipMarc this is the correct usage:
verb (used with object)
to bring in (merchandise, commodities, workers, etc.) from a foreign country for use, sale, processing, reexport, or services.
to bring or introduce from one use, connection, or relation into another:
foreign bodies imported into the blood; foodstuffs imported from the farm.
to convey as meaning or implication; signify:
Her words imported a change of attitude.

verb (used without object)
to be of consequence or importance; to matter:
We are friends, and it does not import that we have only just met.
Not watch any coverage but keeping an eye on news feed
One good thing about trump he is amusing. I wonder if Twitter wants to kick him off the amount of work he gives them blocking his tweets
Bookies have got Biden as a BIG favourite to win at the moment.
But then again, they had Trump as a BIG favourite early this morning.
There's going to be riots in the US whatever happens.
No, because no matter the outcome, I suspect there will be riots and uproar. The whole world is waiting with bated breath
Yes I stayed up to watch it last night.I posted the same thread question as you did, but the mods removed my post for some reason.Anything even slightly political and they take it down.
It was removed because political and religious topics are not allowed on LD. I am surprised this one is still up.
Biden looks like he has taken this. The Bookies do not usually get this wrong and the odds are definitely in his favour. I can see the Trump legal battle developing. Xx
Looks like Biden will take it however, stranger things have happened, it's still possible Trump could still win (253 to 213 as I write)
Yeah i have been watching it and its mental. Some of the stuff happening is cccccrazy. Trump is a pure nutter! Calling states early, wanting recounts, wanting counting stopped, calling fraud, people turning up to ballot locations armed trying to break in, Legal action galore and an abundance of fake news!
Trump has a history of saying things are 'fixed' against him when things don't go his way. It's his narcissism. I still can't believe he was elected or that he still has so much support. I don't know who's crazier him or the Americans who vote for him. He'll not go quietly, that's for certain.
Glitterandgold Yeah I know what you mean regarding the voters. What's strange is 65 million people have looked at the past 4 years and thought yeah I want another 4 years of that . Of course it will be a fix is he loses lol
I've not been watching any coverage but I'm keeping an eye on the news, personally I can't believe how close the outcome seems to be.
Yeah I surprised myself by following it this year. Fingers crossed he’ll take, Georgia and Nevada.
flipside No need to cross fingers HE is 100% certain to, even if HE only takes one of them the other HE will take the other one.
This election is important to everyone as it counts for 10% of GDP worldwide ( BBC NEWS) I have found myself watching more this year. Shock at how close it is, I was sure Biden would have a landslide. Apparently not.
That's the least of my worries. Biden has said before he wants to make masks mandatory and lockdowns.
Looks as though U.K.'s govt gave a preview of what's to come in the U.S., sadly. flipside
PhilipMarc Making masks mandatory is good policy-making. Its worked wonders in countries all over the world. In my home country the virus has been eradicated despite our less-than-stellar sanitary practices.
