Wedding Ideas
Ask a Question
Hi Any newly engaged people out there that know where to start or good ideas for a wedding on a budget? Don’t want to spend a fortune but also really want a lovely wedding. So any tricks/ deals send them my way please
Congratulations on your engagement!
One Fab Day do a great Wedding Checklist. Have a look online.
Decide your budget before you do anything else as this will dictate the planning.
Retailers like ASOS, Coast and Monsoon do lovely bridesmaid dresses (and wedding dresses) and often have sales.
Firstly, Congrats! Secondly..im not married but my mum used to own a bridal shop and she worked with lots of businesses in the wedding industry and she always said to me, dont mention the word 'wedding' if you're going to get a cake/suits/flowers etc. Shops hear the word wedding and automatically the price bumps up. She used to tell her customers who were on a budget the same and so many of them got back in touch to thank her for saving them money.
Have you thought about making things like centre pieces/ decor etc? Venue is one of ghe biggest spends and km sure most places do deals for their not so busy days. Also, getting married on a weekend is dearer.

Hope my rambling made sense
If you type weddings or similar into the chat search section it will come up with lots of different topics that have money saving wedding advice in them. I planned my wedding and my mother in laws, both on a budget and have been told by a number of guests that they were the best weddings they have been too and they are still talked about 5 and 6 years later. Check out the other chats, I know I've added advice to them previously.
Congratulations. Look on Pinterest there is a huge selection of ideas. You will find some good ideas there.
Make your own confetti out of dried leaves! Just use a hole punch you could look for a fancy shaped hole punch (eg a love heart shape) if you like, but either way you'll save money and it'll be more environmentally friendly
Congratulations. Are you hoping for a big do or a more intimate affair? Church or Registry Office?
I had all our outfits for under £200 end of line bridemaid dress for daughter cost £40 sons full suit in a high street store that sold on trend clothes at market prices £35 flower girl white petel dress eBay £20 husband suit burtons £55 and my dress second hand £50. We choose a hotel and had the basic option 3 course meal for 50 guests and evening hog roast for 100 guests included DJ decorations for £2011. I choose a small wedding due to hate big weddings always ending in a fight just had very close friends and family. Check local hotels for weddings to be honest I would of got married in my pjs in registrar office. It’s a lot of cost to please other people
First may I congratulate you on your wedding ! One thing you could do is have a small reception at home or at the home of someone you know well. This would mean saving on the huge cost of a reception venue. If you would consider identifying people you know who can take photos, do hair and nails and donate flowers from their gardens, that would be amazing savings too. These all add up ! If you would consider buying a dress that is not intended as a wedding dress, that would be a big savings too.
