Wedding Present in America
Ask a Question
I’m going to my nephews wedding in June
It’s in the USA and we are all going there
Problem is what gift to take?
Or is cash the best option. But to me that just doesn’t seem right.
To top it Allie seems to have everything
So a bit stuck what to do
When my son married they had already been together for many years and had everything. I bought 2 beautiful boxed wine glasses and popped some money inside them.
Failing that, I would text and ask if there is anything they would like as a gift or would they prefer money.
The money my son and his wife received from guests helped to offset the cost of the wedding.
Some people set up a fund for their honeymoon you can contribute to, so maybe ask if that’s an option?
When we got married we got lots of gift cards as we were buying our first house at the same time so meant we could buy stuff we would need. I would ask them if there is anything they need and if not then give them cash. What about a personalised photo frame, with the date of their wedding etc, so they can put a wedding photo in it?
Why don't you give a token gift and £, something that is from the UK, I'm Welsh so I would get them a Welsh Love spoon with the their names and date of the wedding www.welsh-lovespoons.co.uk/
I think cash and a small keepsake would be lovely, you can get so many beautiful personalised items these days.
Or it you are Scottish keepsake gift

Sorry I couldn't find any traditional gifts for England, but maybe something for small gift from Harrods or Buckingham Palace,

which they can't get in the US
Mayhem A tip for taking a gift, don't gift wrap it before arriving un US. I went to a wedding with gifts and all those that were wrapped were unwrapped by Customs.
A couple we know got married in Canada and had a gift list with one of the department stores. It was easy to pick and pay and they arranged wrapping and delivery. They are divorced now.
