Do as much as you can yourself. We did our table displays ourselves and did our own sweet cart. We provided the bubbly for arrival and the toast. I know not every venue will allow you to but always worth asking. If your buying multiple suits/dresses try and get from the same place and ask for a discount, ours give us free belts, free shoes for groom and free cufflinks. For the dresses, got free bridal shoe and a free tiara.

Im probably the wrong person to ask as i spent £12k on my wedding only to get divorced less than 3 years later but putting that aside what i will say is there will be things that you will stress about but on the day you will hardly notice. I paid £500 for my cake and not one person commented on it and in the end its just cake so i would never spend that much on a cake again. Things like favours, place cards do yourself, theres loads of ideas on pinterest. Invitations i would say some nice packs hand written rather than having them printed, again no one said oh your invites were lovely. I got my bridesmaids dresses in the sale for £35 each. Bridal shoes. Unless you are wearing a short dress no one will see them so look around at white/cream shoes but dont shop for actual bridal shoes theyre more expensive. Shop around bridal shops i got free jewellery and tiara with my dress and for my underskirt which would have been £70 at the bridal shop i bought from ebay for £15 its did the same job and again no one sees it. My bridesmaids tiaras were fron claires accessories about £4 each, again were £20 at bridal shop. My little bridemaids who were only 4 & 6 i didnt have real bouquets made i had fake flower balls on a ribbon made as at that age they tend to throw them around a bit and real flowers could get ruined. They were lovely and looked real and they got to keep them afterwards too. With rings i went to a small independant jewellers and because we bought both i asked what the best price they coukd do and got £40 knocked off. Big chain retailers are not going to do this. I found the biggest cost was food. We had a 3 course wedding breakfast and then a hit buffet at night. One way i reduced the cost was not to have a menu for guests everyone had the same meal aoart feom dietary requirements and kids. It was more exoensive if i gave choices so i chose a standard chicken dinner which most people woukd like. Realise you wont please everyone and you dont have to its yoyr day not theirs and you are paying for it. 1 thing i woukd say is dont feel obliged to invite people who you dont really want there it can get crazy when you add up how many guests you have and obviously that adds to the expense. If im honest if i were to marry again i wouldnt go all out but thats maybe because ive already done it once and i do remember wanting the big white wedding so it can be done. Good luck x

I had very low budget wedding....2 witnesses and us, so 4 of us in total, but I would not change a thing about it. It was much more personal.

I got a corset from China and a long white skirt from a goth website and white boots all cost me around £80.

We paid the fees...I do not remember the exact amount, but I think the room we got was not the cheapest and it cost us around £90. Ordered flowers online £16 and they died so we got other ones from a florist just on the way £25....

We went to Nando`s after (really do not remember the cost of it for 4 of us, but lets say £60) and I ordered the cake from englishcheesecake`s website which was around £20...

And I think i could still done it on similar budget.

I would also add, make a list and question everything you put on it and see if you are really bothered for it. Think about other weddings you've been to and what you thought. I refused to buy or pay for anything just to please others, it's your day not theirs.
