Weight Loss Diet
Ask a Question
Is it worth seeing a dietician to help with weight loss only talking 5-6 pounds or just try it on your own
For 5 or 6 pounds I would try to do it on your own first, you can always try a dietician if you don't lose anything.
How are you planning no doing it? Are you able to exercise?
Mick82 Then maybe if you've gone down the exercise route already a dietician is the way forward.
If it's only 5-6 lbs its definitely worth trying yourself. Simple diet adjustment would do it. Do you snack often? Or eat lots of bread, pasta etc? Alcohol has lots of calories.... or you could add more excercise - walking, running etc whatever your preference. As long as you burn more calories than you consume you'll lose weight.
I have been dieting a lot this year. During the summer I was on and off my diets. Due to the covid stress I just could not keep to it. I have finally gone back to my exercise diet the past 6 weeks and lost half a stone. I found the best way is to not push yourself too hard if you don't feel like it. I have been doing half an hour of exercise a day and eating smaller portions of my usual food. It does take longer to shift the pounds but if I went full in to an hour work out a day and cutting specific food groups out of my diet then I would just give up
Seeing a dietician, unless going private, is using precious nhs resources so I wouldn't be going down this route unless you needed to lose stones not pounds.
I have lost 7lbs over 3 weeks just cutting down and eating two meals per day with no sugar, cakes, biscuits etc.
Would not ever consider using NHS for something like this your right waste of precious resources.
A friend has recently lost 4 kgs on the Keto plan. (only on it for 2 weeks) I admit I hate all forms of 'diet' apart from the 'watch what goes in your mouth diet' but I'm tempted.
I eat too many obvious/ hidden carbs in my weekly food intake and the diet can give the system a little nudge.
My advice would be try it your own. Main thing is to start eat healthy food and drink water. Nothing hard if you really have a wish. + workout, no need to go in a gym as can find lots free on YouTube, or even just walk,as much as you can.
Try drinking more water. Aim for 3 litres a day. It really helps. And cut salt out of your diet.
I use a calorie counting app be surprised how many calories are in certain foods. I would say do a week of what you would normally eat and see if their places in your diet you could change for lower calories options. You say you exercise but aren’t a big eater could be you aren’t eating enough for the amount of exercise you are doing.
